I have had someone ask me how many carats it is. I didn’t even know this person, very rude.

No one has asked, but I would have no problem telling them. I told my parents the cost as I still live with them so my ring would need to be covered by their house and contents insurance

No one has ever asked me, but even if they did I don’t know how much it cost.

No one has ever asked me that question. It’s none of anyone’s business. My husband’s father passed away a few years ago, and he is an only child, so I think some people judge us and assume that we are financially well off (even though we’re not yet– we’re just financially responsible). Anyway, I think it would just add more judgment, so if anyone was rude enough to ask, I’d keep that info to myself.

Someone asked me once, but in a non-prying manner. I jokingly replied, “It’s priceless cos I waited at least 2 years before I can finally wear it! I almost botched Bug’s romantic proposal.” Then added, “We bought it together. It was on sale.”

Question that came back: “Ball-park? Over $2 thousand?”

    I said, “Definitely under two.”

Someone asked me once and I answered, “Oh, about 20 grand…”

It’s an aquamarine and it’s from Amazon, under $350. I just like to get a chuckle out of stupid questions.

What a rude question. I can’t believe anyone would ask that, except for maybe possibly parents or siblings, but that’s pushing it.

It’s really rude but people ask me this all the time. I just say I don’t know and don’t want to know.

I just shrug my shoulders and say I don’t know and frankly I don’t care either. That usually shuts them up.

@TGold:  I do not know the price either (my Fiance told me never to ask, and I really don’t want to know.) So I can truthfully answer that question, but what really gets me is the “OMG how big is it?!” question. It just really irks me. I do know how big my center stone is, and how many carats are on the band, but that’s really our business, not anyone else’s. I dont care if my close friends ask, but strangers? Really?

Man, I really want to respond to the next person who asks with “I’m sorry, would you ask a guy how big his d!ck is? No? Didn’t think so. That’s rude.”

Nobody ever acknowledges my ring at all, which is kind of a bummer bec its a sorta biggish stone and id love to brag about it. Ppl just ask what my husband does or what me n my husband did this weekend. I guess ppl don’t even notice theres no wedding band there. Weird.

If anyone ever asked me that, outside of a discussion about the cost, I would lie.  Completely.

“Oh, this old thing?  It’s made from saber-tooth tiger diamonds and cost $50 million.”
