Actually, I think you’re lucky there! I usually hear about people hearing nothing past the RSVPs, then having some people not show up! At least now you know to cancel the meals. I’m sure you’ll be fine!

Yes. My RSVP list was about 108 – we ended up with right about 100 actually at the wedding!

I’ve had 3 cancels in the last few days. Better to cancel than to no show!

Yep, I had two cancels the week before my wedding, and one no-show the day of. It sucks, but there’s not much you can do about it.

Yes we had one cancel. We had someone else cancel, and then they were able to change some things around I guess and while they may miss our ceremony and part of cocktail hour, can still come for most of the evening (and still need a meal, grrr). Kinda annoying, but at least they’ve told us. Still a few days to go so not sure what will happen, inevitably someone will be a no show or someone else will cancel at the last minute. But at least we’re as close as we can be.

We had several people cancel in the week before (five people in one day at one point!), and then we also had several no-shows at the wedding itself.

It happens.  You usually RSVP weeks in advance when you just can’t know if there will be health problems or a family emergency close to the wedding.  8 people seems like a lot, but please don’t take it personal.  I’m sure they are very sorry to miss your wedding, and they tried to give you advance notice instead of just not showing up.  That shows consideration on their part.

Yup…we had several people cancel about a week before the wedding and it was really annoying. I mean, I’m glad they told us and didn’t just not show up, but some of them were that they broke up with their significant other. Then 2 days later, wanted them added back to the guest list b/c they got back together. Another canceled 5 days before b/c her family was throwing her cousin a baby shower. You seriously didn’t know about that until 5 days prior?? So yeah…I think it’s normal. People just aren’t considerate.

It’s too bad you couldn’t bring home the “doggie bags” of those who don’t show up!

We had about 6 cancel in the week before the wedding. So annoying. Out of 70 guests, so it was noticeable. But, people thought they’d be able to get off work and found out right before that they couldn’t – nothing anyone can do about it.

We had several right before the wedding as well. My friends little sister decided last-minute that she was doing a courthouse wedding that same day, and another friend from out of state got called into trial that weekend. Shit happens 🙂
