I just saw this for the first time when one of DH’s friends got married. I have to admit, I think it’s really, really weird and wouldn’t ever have occured to me. I mean, I got married, not assimilated into one identity.
Is this becoming more common? Did anyone here do it?

I sincerely hate when people do this!!

I have never heard of it.

It drives me INSANE when people do this.

I think it’s silly when people do this….

I have a friend that did this with her husband. I think it’s weird. I’m friends with YOU, not your husband. Do you not trust each other to have individual Facebooks or something? Does your husband really want to read 100 status updates a day from your friends about Fifty Shades of Grey and that new nail polish they bought?

I’ve never met anyone that did that. I know of people who would use their SO’s accounts but I’ve never met anyone that combined accounts. To each their own, I guess.

Never heard of it! Will soooo not ever happen with Fi and I!

Wow! I have heard of joint facebook accounts, but usually for older people who just joined together with one account in the first place — they didn’t join their accounts after getting married! I don’t mind the joint accounts that have always been that way, but combining them after marriage seems VERY unusual …

are those the ones listed as
John Jane Smith?
now I get it.
weird. Why would you combine accounts?

A few of my friends have done this. I don’t really have a problem with it, but it does sometimes seem like it merges their identities a little bit too much. 😉
I don’t think it’s a trust thing. I just think that a lot of people are tired of Facebook anyway, so they decide to just have one account between spouses just to keep in touch with people.

I have never heard of this. It just sounds stupid to me. Do they combine e-mail accounts and share the same phone too?

@GroovyHippieChick: Yeah or Kyleand Sarah Blahblahblah.

this is stupid to me. I’m extending my identity not combining it with my future husbands!!! I wouldn’t be up for that at all…
