I think a lot of the issue is having the same debate OVER and OVER again.  We know that no one is going to agree on certain things.  Thats fine.  I think its ok to make your point and share your perspective but say your point and then move on.

My point is I guess, that most threads on here are not “up for discussion”.  The threads are typically posted in a manner to receive input.  Once you have given your input then be done with it!

I don’t think there’s anything we can really do about it. More than anything else, it’s just annoying.

Obviously people just have differing thresholds as to what they see as a ‘reasonable’ point and what they see as ‘threadjacking’.

I find that those who get so worked up over threadjacking simply can’t handle a differing and perhaps strong opinion.  They also seem to think that their need for cohesion should be greater valued than others’ need for discussion.

I am personally for a debate thread. I like debating, and sometimes I forget that other people don’t 🙁

@lisa105: Im really sorry, but your “poor me” act just doesnt cut it. While I declined to contribute to them, I read the registry and dollar dance threads. Every time I have seen a mod call you out, I have agreed with their reasons for doing so. There is a large difference between stating an opinion and trying to beat someone over the head with it. I have no problem with differing opinions, I have plenty of them, but there is a polite way to express them.

Can I now threadjack and talk about pineapples. (First thing that came to my mind.) Man pineapple sounds good.

Or, to engage you, a peanut is neither a pea nor a nut. Discuss!
