@eloping: lol DH once called Coke because they changed the cherry coke packages to have pink designs on them and he complained about it because he thought they were too feminine! He owned stock in Coke at the time…

Kill them with kindness. Honestly, it will piss them off way more than fighting with them and giving them attitude. That is what they are looking for, so they can feel justified in treating people like crap. People look to complain no matter what, and you can’t control that. You can control how you react to it, though.

@Krises: yep, our crazy caller i took about a month ago – i refused to respond so i let him rant and he would eventually stop yelling and there would be silence on the phone and he was shocked that i wasnt engaging him – why would i want to argue with a crazy person

If someone had a legitimate complaint, then please by all means, allow me to fix it for you. However, the bane of my existence is stupidity and I suppose it runs rampant here as most people have a hard time doing much of anything, including buying a sandwich.

@Wonderwoman217:Oh dear Lord, waitressing horror stories!

The only thing you really can do is learn to laugh at these people because it just sucks to have your blood boil every time an @hole comes into the store.

I am so glad I don’t work in customer service anymore.  That included working behind the pharmacy counter in a drugstore many years ago.  I dreaded going back there because they hardly trained me.  I was there to mainly cash people out when it got busy.

Is it just me, or do people tend to yell more at females than males?

@Earlybride:  I too work at a pharmacy as an intern and people just blow my mind.  Have you ever been on a website called theangrypharmacist? It’s hilarious.  I have had two people in the last week or two that have just turned around and walked away from me while I was talking when I didn’t tell them what they wanted (like I don’t have this in stock or your insurance won’t pay for the flu shot).  No ok thanks or anything.  Makes me really want to get a job in the hospital.  But then I guess I would have to deal with mean nurses and doctors instead.  Guess mean people are just a part of life!

funny story, involves customer service.   we went to NZ for christmas last year and one morning i needed to get a few things from the pharmacy so i was waiting in line to pay and there were some somewhat strange people in front of me and behind me.  after about 5mins (it was a big line) a employee came up to me and quitely said “you can follow me to pay for that” and took me out of the queue and elsewhere… apparently i was standing in the daily morning methodone line and lined up with all these people getting thier morning hit to get through the day

hubby: didnt you notice they were druggies
me:  i thought they were hippies

You can really tell a lot about a person by how they treat customer service reps. Double that for how they treat people earning minimum wage.
