Since last night there’s been a dirty bowl with water sitting on one of the kitchen counters. I went this morning to get water and it’s still there…that’s just gross. Once in a while there will be a few pieces of tupperware and mugs by the sink full of water and soap. I really don’t get why people can’t just clean their stuff when they’re done with it.
The other day I saw period blood smeared on the toilet seat. Is it really that hard for people to clean up after themselvs?

Oh yuck. My office has a couple people who sit and eat full bowls of cereal at their desks; this isn’t home, you’re not meant to be THAT comfortable here!!

@tmsing: That is just nasty specially the period blood part! I’m so glad that at my office we have a cleaning lady that cleans the bathrooms, floors, etc… she also puts the dishes in the dishwasher every night so theres never really anything dirty like that.

@tmsing: The dishes thing drives me crazy in my office as well! Like your mom or wife does not work here so clean your own damn dishes!! Makes me so angry!

@tmsing: i think people do that in hopes that someone will clean their shit. we actually work in a small office so if i can figure out whose stuff it is i usually go remind them to clean it. but then i’m a bitch like that. ha!

@tmsing: I’ve worked in an office for years now – it happens. It’s worse than living with my brothers.

@ZebraPrintMe: haha I’ve actually thought about bringing cereal to work since the fridge is always stocked with milk.
You think that’s comfortable though, try people who don’t wear shoes at their desk. I’ve seen some of my coworkers cut their fingernails at their desk and not using anything like a garbage can to catch their clippings, it drives me bonkers!
@Jennifferq: We do have a cleaning lady but alas, no dishwasher. I think they’re only hired to do the garbage and bathrooms.

@tmsing: People are gross. I stay away from the kitchen at all costs because it just grosses me out too much. If the bowl started congealing and was there after a day, I would probably throw it in the garbage if I thought I could get away with it and not get caught (I wouldn’t want to get yelled at by the rude employee that did it and I would be embarassed if it belonged to my boss.)

The blood thing is absolutely disgusting. Some peoples’ kids…

@MrsPanda99: haha are your brothers particularly clean? I don’t have any brothers except for my Brother-In-Law. One time he came home super drunk when I was visiting H years ago and I’m pretty sure Brother-In-Law peed around the toilet bowl by accident. And since he’s an angel in MIL’s eyes, he didn’t have to clean up that mess, though I don’t remember if it was me or H that cleaned it.

We were having problems like that at work until one of our custodians put a sign by the sink that says something like, “clean up your mess. This is not your house or your kitchen!!” Then they posted signs in every stall of the bathroom saying, “have some dignity and clean up after yourselves!” haha. It seems to have worked.

Gross! I get all ick over things like you described too, but then I strive to keep my work area as neat and clean as possible.

@adoc86: haha I like the idea of putting up a sign that says “Have some dignity.”

In my office, if that happens too much, the person who has “kitchen duty” (starts/unloads the office dishwasher) will send out an email that basically says “EW, gross, learn to clean up after yourself I’m not your parent,” but usually more humorous than that.
However, if the person with kitchen duty didn’t put away the clean dishes in the morning, the dirty dishes pile up in the sink and they unfortunatley have no one to blame but themselves.
It could be worse – kitchen duty used to involve buying bagels or donuts for the entire floor, with money out of your own pocket.

@tmsing: we have had to actually put notes in the bathroom reminding people not to pee all over the seat / flush when they are done.
are we still being potty trained?! NO we are grown women – WTF?!?
