I’m in the process of figuring out just the right spot in Belize for my honeymoon and I’m REALLY hoping someone can help! We’re both 29 y/o, laid back, but still love adventurous things. We live in Manhattan Beach CA, so we’re kind of spoiled in that we have a beautiful ocean and beach in our back yard.
My fiance Jenn is unbelievably, almost annoyingly easy to please. The only specifics in a honeymoon Jenn will voice is “crystal clear water and white sand”. But, I know she has certain images/ideas in her head and I don’t want to disappoint. (she refuses to give specifics!)
Based on my research the last 2 days, I know Belize is known for incredible diving/snorkeling, boating, cave tubing, zip lining, Mayan history, and tons of other adventurous activities. Let me be clear, we ABSOLUTELY want to partake in most of these activities, but we don’t and probably won’t be certified for diving and basically don’t want to be on the go our entire trip. Have you heard of the Cocoa Beach Resort in Belize(http://www.cocobeachbelize.com/)? This place might be and probably is a bit fancy and big for our taste, but we love the idea of having a romantic pool and being pampered just a bit. Also might be a bit crowded. I don’t need to ring a bell on the beach and have someone bring me food, but I sure wouldn’t mind this!
I guess my question to you, is there a happy medium here? Can I find a place that really caters to honeymooners, but also has access to these really great activities? Also, can you tell me the differences in staying in SAN PEDRO, HOPKINS and PLACENCIA? I have the feeling Placencia might cater more to the romantic honeymooners, more so than San Pedro; am I way off on this? Is Placencia too remote? Is San Pedro and/or Hopkins too touristy?
Any suggestions would greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.
