Why don’t you start out the conversation with how much you love this space, how perfect it is, how excited you are about it, how amazing that it is in your budget, etc? After all that, then tell him where it is.

Parents want to make their children happy and maybe if he sees how in love with this venue you are first, he won’t put up a fuss. I probably won’t hurt to offer transportation and a hotel room either. I’d use that as your back-up hand though.

I know exactly what you mean. My dad does that crap to me too. I don’t think parents ever stop doing it.

Also, with men it might be easier to go with a logical argument too. You are getting X amount of stuff for X amount of money vs how much you would be getting at a venue near you or how much it would cost to get those same things locally. I know that’s the kind of argument Darling Husband would go for.

@zippylef:  I agree.

Maybe you could take him to the venue and show him why you love it so much.  Where you’re thinking of having photos, where he’ll walk you down the aisle etc.  When he can see how happy it makes you the drive wont seem as long.  And value for money wise I’m sure he’d see the merit, haha!

I think renting a limo bus is a great idea, it will keep all the bridal party in one place and will add tons of fun to the day because you’ll all be together for that not so long drive ๐Ÿ™‚
