After a few months of doing a LOT of research, I think I have perfected the art of lighting an outdoor tent with paper lanterns. I did it all by myself and with friends, and it cost me less than a third of what the lighting companies were quoting me, which was around $3000 for a 40′ x 80′ tent in the Hamptons. I figured it out so that you can have beautiful, warm light with real bulbs rather than LED lights and without the need for an additional generator!
My wedding was in June, and I still have all of the schematics/diagrams that I used and the raw materials, including the lanterns, light bulbs and cords. Please see the attached photo and you can see for yourselves how gorgeous everything came out. All of the guests marveled at the lighting, and the warm glow made everyone look really good.
I am hoping to sell the raw materials and my expertise to another bride, so I can recycle as much as possible. Please let me know if you’re interested.
Sorry, this post wouldn’t allow me to upload my photos (size of the file too large?). I will try posting the photos under ‘Gallery’ under ‘paper lantern tent lighting’.
