I like the pop of color, especially if it’s so meaningful to your relationship.

    Love the color!

I had a friend who’s almost-fiance wanted a 3 stone ring with peridot on each side. When my friend went to the jeweler to ask to have it made, the jeweler said peridot  would not be a durable, long lasting stone choice. So he ended up getting her a 3 diamond ring.

But maybe the small pave ones would hold up better?
Just throwing that out there as something to look into.

I love the look and idea of the period band, but here’s something you may want to think about:  Peridots are a 6.5 to 7 on Moh’s Hardness Scale, and are “extremely susceptible to chemical weathering and can change colors or lose its color quite rapidly,” which is why they’re not used in a lot of jewelry.

I have a peridot right hand ring I when I was 16. I’ve worn it everyday for 12 years and I am HARD on my jewelry. It’s still in great shape and hasnt changed color at all. It’s definitely not that fragile.

I would get the peridot if you want to.

I love the peridot idea!  It will look beautiful with your ring, and it is meaningful in your relationship.

I can’t vouch to how well peridot will stand up against everyday wear, but I’ve had a peridot ring for almost 10 years and it still looks great.  I only wear it occasionally, so that might have something to do with it – but FWIW, it’s in perfect shape and shows no sign of discoloration or anything like that.

I would get the diamond band. I wish I could remember who it was but another bee posted pictures of her Peridot band and how scratched and weathered it looked after only a couple months.

I love peridot too! I say go for it, or if you can’t decide between diamond and peridot, why not combine them?

Can you maybe get an eternity ring that alternates diamonds and peridots?

I had a peridot ring in high school that I wore a lot and unfortunately the stone itself wound up looking beat up rather quickly.  I still loved the ring so I wore it but I’m not sure I would get it for a wedding band.  It is a beautiful color and I could see why you would want one.
