My midwife said just to use our regular olive oil. The whole thing seems so awkward and silly, but honestly, I’d like to do everything I can not to tear.
My DH said to the midwife when she was explaining this, “I’ll just bring some bread in the bedroom too to sop up what’s not needed” I wanted to die of embarassment, but she laughed.

You know what is hilarious? All the instructions online say to “use a mirror” to make it easier. Um, DUH! Is there anyone at this stage of pregnancy that can actually still see down there on their own?????

Honestly, I don’t think I could ask DH to do this for me. I just feel like it would be awkward…
Anyone know why oil needs to be used and not just lube?

I’m willing to go through the awkwardness if it does, indeed, help prevent me from tearing. Also, I could still see my goods at 25 weeks, but at almost 30 I can’t!
