Oh my goodness, I’m not sure how I found myself here. I’m not even TTC yet. But now I’m curious lol. A lot of people said they would feel awkward having their husbands do that. Is it just him putting some oil in your vagina and putting his fingers in/stretching it a bit? Or is there more to it? Lol, I hope I’m not labeling myself as the skeevy board member, but don’t your husbands ever put their fingers in there anyway? As a part of sex?

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA ….. I opened this having no clue what it was about and now I am almost in tears at my desk. Definitley got some funny images going through my mind…
I don’t think I could get my SO to do that for me. I think I will just stick to yoga…

yeah, but know imagine it’s not something sexual and they are stretching your lips and perinum out. Awkward!

Haha. Yes, but I can see how it can be awkward for some since everything I’ve read says it’s doesn’t exactly feel pleasurable since he’s trying to um, stretch that area and you’re supposed to feel a burning/tingling sensation.
I’ve read 34 weeks, but I’m hoping for extra credit and want to start earlier.

Lol, I have a feeling DH would be more excited to do that than to give me a footrub, but I guess we shall see when the time comes 😛
ETA: Oh, I didn’t realize it was supposed to tingle/burn/not feel pleasureable. Lol oh I can’t wait for the joys of pregnancy 😉

I’ve actually had the stretching done before- I went to a physical therapist who specialized in the pelvic floor (I had vaginismus). If anyone is really serious about it, you can do it yourself using plastic or silicone dilators. This is what I used for my “homework”- you can get them at a lot of online adult toy stores. I haven’t tried doing it since I’ve been pregnant but it would be a lot easier than trying to use your fingers since they usually have some type of handle. I’ve always used a water based lube (not KY because that stuff kind of sucks) but I’ve heard coconut oil is also supposed to be good.

You can see down there now, but at 35 weeks when it is time for the massage, you may not be able to! 🙂

OMG I am almost dying at my desk (male co worker thinks I’m retarted lol).
You ladies are hilarious. I had also never heard of it before, but knew the region…so was expecting something rather intersting lol
Thanks for the giggle, though I am sorry so many of you are at the point where this may be necessary. One more reason I don’t know if I want to have babies 😉

Oh. my. god. Ladies, I’m hugely pregnant and apt to pee myself from laughing to much. YOU CAN’T POST STUFF LIKE THIS! rofl.
Neither DH or I want him to watch the birth. lol. He’s going to stay safely by my head.

Yes, I’m logging in just to post this. I ran across this on Mrs. Avocado’s personal blog when she was pregnant and my husband ordered it for me. I used it a few times but not vigilantly. I may try to do better this time around.

My friend said her doc did this during her labor and she said it was the best thing for her delivery

I did perineal massage twice per day with olive oil starting at 35 weeks. I did it pretty consistently and when it came time to deliver my baby, I pushed for maybe 15 minutes and had two very tiny tears that had dissolving stitches.
It was uncomfortable but I’d totally do it again.
