Even though the generics are the same mediciation, they do not always have the same affect on your body.  It’s basically like you started a new BC which is why your period is off.

I wouldn’t worry about it, it takes my body a few months to adjust to a new BC.

I was just at my ob/gyn recently and she was saying how generic birth control has a greater chance of you spotting. Also, since you just started it, that could be it too. I just started a new birth control too and I had what seemed like a real period the first 5 days or so of it. (in fact, it was heavier than my actual “birth control period” so that was weird.) I hope your body adjusts quickly for you! Oh yeah, and I’d use condoms maybe a week or so after you stop bleeding, just in case.
