I am in the process of trying to lose a 5-10 pounds (post honeymoon weight) and was doing well (about a pound a week) until my period hit….. now I am up three pounds……….
Can anyone recommend any food/drinks that can help with the bloat?
How many days before/during/after do you notice a weight gain…..

@californiabride2013: I am the same. Drinking lots of water and low salt is pretty much all that helps me. It is hormonal – I have gained and lost (fluid) almost 9 pounds across 2 days just before my period is due. I tend to deflate when I get it.

@californiabride2013: Agree with PP about low salt and lots of water! I used to bloat like CRAZY before I switched BC pills. Also avoid alcohol- I always swell up when I drink!
Also green tea and grapefruit are natural diruretics 🙂

Second what other posters said about water. Water, water, water! Green tea in the morning is helpful for me. Also, lots of vegetables that are high in fiber – think green. Kale, spinach, broccoli, asparagus. Those will help flush out your system.

@californiabride2013: Water! I would also recommend a spinach smoothie. I know, I know…it sounds disgusting, but Darling Husband used to mix a handful of spinach with a cup of fruit and maybe a little bit of yogurt and ice and it would keep me regular and keep me from bloating. I recommend giving it a try.
