I’ve posted a bit on here about bringing home our new kitten, what to feed him, etc. and I thought the Friday bees could use a little kitten cuteness! Our breeder happened to be showing a few of her cats at a show not too far from where we live, so we got to pick him up last week. As with all kittens he’s been busy exploring his new home, teething, getting into trouble, and sleeping on my head (oy).
Today he is 13 weeks old, and I swear he grows an inch per day. He’s been following me around, purring and chirping, and is currently passed out on the sofa with his tail curled around his nose. Awwwww.
Introducing Perkins, the blue classic tabby Maine Coon!
Curled up at my feet
Cat nap! He stayed just like this, sprawled on top of me, for over 2 hours. Good thing I was just reading.

Awww he’s gorgeous!!! I love him!!! I desperately want a Mainecoon or a Ragdoll one day!!!

That is a pretty awesome cat and I’m a dog person! Aren’t they the kind that get pretty huge?

@bakerella: Thanks! Get a MC! Get a MC! Haha Ragdolls are super-cute too, a co-worker had two and the pictures were gorgeous.
@chasesgirl: Yep, as a neutered male he will reach a minimum of 18 lbs by the time he’s fully grown (and his parents are biiiig too). My female MC that lives with my parents is 15 lbs. MCs are the perfect cat for dog-lovers: they come when they’re called, play fetch, and sit up and beg!

@BostonBaby: LOL That description sounds like my DSH black cat. He thinks he’s a dog, weighs 20+ lbs, begs… Wait, he doesn’t play fetch, but my little one does! She’s a tabby and the rescue organization said she was part Mainecoon, but she’s SO tiny that’s just not possible. Maybe it’s just the part that plays fetch 😉
ETA – Friends of ours have a gorgeous Mainecoon with markings/colourings like yours and I keep threatening to steal him. He’s the sweetest cat ever!

Awwww! He is so handsome! What a cutie!

@bakerella: I swear, the whole concept that only dogs like to fetch is a myth. I know other MC owners whose cats learned to roll over, and we’ll be training Perkins to a harness & leash soon. I think that any cat — DSH, MC, whatever — can be trained to a point, depending on the personality.
Perkins is turning into a regular bibliocat: he’s curled up on my lap, purring, while I write & type! Now if only he’d stop batting at my pen…

Oh my gooooodddd he is SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!

Adorable! I had a MC as a kid for awhile (one of those strays that comes and eats your food for a couple months and then moves on), and she was massive. Perkins looks like he’s gonna be a big boy if he’s only 13 wks now!
