I am so sorry to hear about your father. I hope you will be alright.

But to answer your quesiton, yes catering is the most expensive part, we’re only having 55-60 people and our food/bev price is about $5000-$6000.

Food is supposed to be the biggest expense. Mine is about 40-50% of my budget, but that includes our bar and venue rental fees. We’re having our reception at a hall. So, I might say that food by itself is at least 35%.

For me food, rentals, linens, staff, etc will be coming in just under $6K with tax and gratuity.

Food is def expensive. Right around 4K. Our venue was more but it also included EVERYTHING (ceremony, site, fees, etc) so i can’t complain. But yeah, it costs so much money to feed people, even a decent dinner like chicken, mashed potatoes, and corn (like we had!)

Sorry about your dad…

I feel I know I want a buffet but we haven’t chosen either who will cater or who in my family will be the cook so I don’t know the exact price yet. My mom offered to pay for this portion of the wedding budget, but I feel you on the reliable issue. She’s not very reliable. Let’s just hope and pray everything goes well for the two of us.

we are having 175 people and we are having it at a country club, its about 4800 for food and 3800 for liquer…doesnt include linen rentals. Food is the worst part…makes paying 1100 for a wedding dress sound like a piece of cake 😉 good luck

Food absolutely most expensive.  I’m having about 75 people and might spend up to 9,000.  🙁  But IMO it’s the most important part for throwing a good party, venue and food.
