@dominicanbride16:  i wanted to personalize my wedding as much as possible. especially after the wedding coordinator at the resort we got married at told me the ceremonies typically last 15 minutes!  so, because i also wanted a secular wedding, what we did to personalize the ceremony was have two friends read a poem at different times, and we did a wine box ceremony.  and we wrote our own vows.  nothing super unique, but was different from the usual 15 minute ceremony offered by the resort and every aspect of it (poems, vows, wine box ceremony) made it special for us.

also, partly to save money as well, i packed a suitcase full of decorations, but got to incorporate decor i liked (like heart shaped candle centerpieces), so that made it more “personalized” too i guess.  I also made my own menu card and programs, which added a little touch.

ETA: i basically got lots of help and ideas right here on weddingbee throughout. without this site, i might not have come up with any “personalized” ideas and just gone with what the resort offered.
