Actually Alstroemeria meri is a fairly sturdy flower as long as they are well-hydrated and purchased when truly fresh. I buy them every semester for my students to “dissect” plus I often get them for the home. Some really lovely colors are available; they are a frequent addition to many bouquets and flower arrangements and I highly reccomend them.

I have never seen them in a wedding, but would love to!! I do, however, sometimes get them for my house, and they last so long! I have purchased them fromthe GROCERY store and had them last almost 2 weeks – so I think you’re good! ๐Ÿ™‚

One good thing to know about alstromeria: they have a pretty strong fragrance, which is great if you like it. I personally find them a little too intense (I have a pretty sensitive nose and a lot of things quickly become overwhelming for me, including these flowers). I would definitely make sure you have a chance to smell them first before deciding.

Actually Alstroemeria rarely has a strong scent They are not a very large flower, although not tiny by any means. Open, they are around 3 to 4 cm.

Hmmm … I would check the specific cultivar you are thinking of using and give it a sniff test. I’ve had to wear alstroemeria corsages that have given me headaches, I found the scent to be so overwhelming. Maybe I was just unlucky enough to get one of the few perfumey cultivars, but I would recommend that you check it first.

My experience with alstromeria is not good, I consider them too fragile.

They are my favorite flower.  A boquet, even from the grocery store, will last almost two weeks.  They’ll be in my wedidng arrangements.
