This is our beagle australian shepherd we adopted from a shelter!

Adoption day:

Now:

brutus

He’s a much healthier, happier pup now! We sure love him! Also, that’s half of our other dog who’s also great and they’re best buds!

I’ve told our story on the Bee before- but I’ll happily share it again! We adopted Lincoln from our local Humane Society almost 6 years ago. He had been picked up as a stray so they didn’t know anything about him, but he turned out to be a perfect fit for our family. He is so gentle with our cat and our daughters. He is about 10 now and is slowing down but still enjoying life and we love him to pieces!

I came home late one night from university and as I was heading to the entrance of my building I heard this little cry. Opposite of where I was standing was this tiny grey cat sitting in a puddle. I picked her up…and never put her down. She was around 6 months old, stray, wasn’t spayed and had fleas. I got that little girl cleaned up and she hasn’t left my side in eight years. My fur baby for sure!

My first cat was an older girl and when I was at the humane society she reached her paw out and grabbed me when I walked by. She came from a house with over two dozen cats and was this very short hair tabby. At home with me and my other cat (puddle cat from above) she got healthy, her heart murmur went away and her fur grew and grew, turns out she was a long hair cat, she’d just been so poorly treated. Crazy affectionate cat, and accepted puddle cat without hesitation. She sadly passed a few years ago due to cancer.

Puddle cat and I were devastated by losing our older cat so I went to a local agency that rescues cats and dogs from around the province (and country) and puts them in foster homes. I went to see one group of cats and this young cat was shy, but aporoached me right away. She had since really come out of her shell and talks away. She has taken a real liking to my fiancé, sonwe share him lol. She and puddle cat are buddies now.

I love rescue animals. They have so much love to give and are so happy to be with you.

Zulu left was adopted at 8 weeks old, Nali middles (center of attention as usual) was adopted at 10 weeks old so Zulu could have a bestie. Then along came Roo, our foster failure! He spent almost three years in the shelter before we started fostering!

Fiance adopted KC when she was just a pup. She was a stray so we don’t know exactly how old she is or was when they adopted her. He found her on Christmas in the shelter almost 10 years ago and convinced his parents their dog needed a friend! Shes the most loving and loyal dog. She literally won’t leave my side and if I’m laying in bed she insists on laying on me. Shes so sweet and fun and the most lovable girl you could imagine!

My sister sent me a picture of some kittens that were abandoned at a veterinary office. I couldn’t stop looking at the picture because they were just so cute. There was a long haired calico, a tortie, and two dilute calicoes. About a week later I contacted the office to see if they were still available. They were still available so I drove an hour away to get a kitten. I picked the long haired calico and brought her home. I don’t have any pics of her on my tablet, but she’s 11 months old now and so beautiful. She is the queen of our house!

This is Chloee.  She was dumped at a landfill when she was three months old. The first picture was taken about an hour after we got her home.  The second is from last Halloween; her doggie daycare provider loves painting her. My hubby took her to the vet on the same day and people kept asking what kind of dog she was – leopard dog! She is such a sweetheart – we are so glad someone decided to trash our baby!chloeefence

My husband’s coworker’s neighbor (quite the mouthful haha) was hoarding animals & the county was making her down-size. He  was supposedly a healthy 12-week-old, but he ended being infested in fleas & worms. The vet also estimated him to only be about 6 weeks old. A year & a half later though our baby is happy & healthy! We love him to pieces & wouldn’t have changed a thing!

futuremrsc2be:  I adopted my dog a few years ago. When we walked into the humane society to “look”, my SO said “we aren’t getting a dog today”. Well, that didn’t work because we walked out with this guy! I love him so much!!! Best decision ever 🙂

This is our rescue dog Sookie. I always say she was meant to be ours. She went through three different owners that we know of before she broke out of her yard and wandered into the front yard of the president of the local Artic Breeds Rescue when we were looking for a rescue we liked the look of Sook because pthey said how sweet she is when we contacted the rescue it turned out she was being fostered a few blocks from us!

she has turned out to be the sweetest most loving dog and is even great with our cat

My girl Dahlia was born in Puerto Rico, which has a sad overabundance of abandoned dogs (called “Satos”). There are organizations that bring them up to American for adoption. She was 12 weeks old, and we knew there was a great spirit in her! I was actually away for work but my fiance went in to take pictures of the dogs at the shelter to surprise me, and fell in love with her instantly. When I came back, I did, too 🙂 She just turned a year old last month!
