@MrsMc77:  My dog’s first name (original owner/shelter) was “Kane” – I didn’t really like the connotations of that, esp. for a pit mix, so renamed him “Vinnie” when I adopted him.  It was that or Oliver, but he needed a muscle-man name 😀  Luckily (or unluckily, I guess) he had no real training as Kane, so teaching him to respond to a new name was easy!

We have 2 cats names Bella (who we renamed to Tucker after we found out Bella was not a she but a he) and Sookie (we like vampires in our house Cool).

My, then 6 year old, son constantly called Sookie “Snookie” for the longest time.  Weird thing is we don’t even watch Jersey Shore so I don’t know how he knew the name.

I named one of my parents cats Hermione (obviously from Harry Potter), and my dad and brother call her “hiney” for short. She is kind of a butt though 🙂

We have two adopted dogs.  The first one we got his original name was Arfus, we tried to build on that and started calling him Sir Arfus but we absolutely hated the name.  As a puppy he’d chase things and not watch where he was going and contastantly crash into walls, chairs, people etc so we named him Crash.

Our second adopted dog was originally named Teddy but it just didn’t suit him.  He has some fantastic burnt brown colours in his fur so we started calling him Bernie, which has now turned into Bern.

So in the end we have a Crash and Bern, given that my SO is a huge car guy with a mustang, camaro, truck etc. it seemed to suit us really well.

We have three pets and two of them have funny names. One is Lobster, so everyone always comments on that (he’s a little white dog, so it doesn’t entirely make sense).

The other is Smeagol and it’s actually hilarious. He’s a Sphynx mix so he’s mostly hairless and looks exactly like Smeagol/Gollum from Lord of the Rings. This happened one night:

Smeagol meeting Smeagol.
