Ok – so I have a pet peeve that has been driving me a little crazy lately. It seems like every time I am in an elevator and the doors open for me to get out, there is always someone who just tries to barge right in, apparently oblivious to the fact that I’m there. Is it just me or aren’t you supposed to let the people who are on the elevator off first before you enter? It just seems like common courtesy to me yet this happens to me almost daily.
Does this happen to anyone else? What pet peeves have been bothering any of you lately?

@Mrs.KMM: I hate that!! SO rude!!
This happened this morning so its fresh on my mind…I HATE when there is an accident blocking a lane and people don’t let people in the blocked lane over. Or act all offened if someone gets in front of them. I mean come on people…there’s clearly an accident and people need to get out of that lane to pass, just let people over!
Grrr…make’s me so mad.

@Mrs.KMM: I stopped going to the mall because of that! haha
My pet peeve is at work. I clean my desk almost every other day. It bugs me when I go to someone elses desk to use the computer, because it’s the only one that can operate the printer, and there are skin flakes, dust, and other crumbs everywhere bugs the shit out of me. It’s like how can you touch your keyboard every day like that? Ew.

@Mrs.KMM: Yes! I remember when I was little my mom always told me to wait to the side. For some reason I always forget to do that, but I step aside immediately if someone is getting off.
I find the LRT (it’s kinda like a subway system) is even worse for that.

@AB Bride: Yeah – MARTA (the subway system here in Atlanta) is awful about that too!

This annoys me the most on the subway because OMG, if I don’t get off in time I’ll miss my stop. When I was taking it regularly I got into the habit of exiting the train with my elbows ready.

That annoys me as well!
My biggest pet peeve about a similar situation is when a man doesn’t hold the door for a woman.

In Chicago, most people (lol more so in my morning commute) step off the train to allow you to ease your way out. It can be too crowded, and I don’t want to have to squeeze in the 3 inches your allowing me to get off. Most people also wait for people to get off before boarding. There is always that one pushy lady who will dodge in front of you to get on first.
it also bothers me when people don’t move all the way into the car. Then the entryway is packed and the doors shout and I have to wish I wastain ding in that empty space 4 people in and on my way home.

Lol, YES People are rude !!
We were travelling on the weekend…
And the one thing we noticed sooo often was how some folks park their cars so frickin’ close to the next one
THERE ARE LINES PEOPLE ON THE PAVEMENT FOR A REASON… TRY TO AT LEAST AIM FOR THE CENTRE !!
It sucks trying to get out (or worse into) your car when you damn near need a shoehorn or can opener to do so…
** Lol, ok rant done **
😉 *wink*

There’s this young kid who lives in my building… I was taking my dog out the other morning, coming out of the elevator, and he walked WITH HIS EYES CLOSED straight into me as I tried to get off!
Then he acted like I scared the daylights out of him! Sorry dude – you had your eyes closed!

I was always taught that proper etiquette was that the people who are coming out go first, and then the people who are coming in. That’s when there’s a bunch of people trying to go in and out of a door, on an elevator, etc.

If people don’t let me out before coming in to an elevator, train, etc, I walk into them. Not directly but I brush shoulders on purpose. ASSHOLES. It drives me crazy and they should know better.

@Mrs.KMM: Yes! Omg, you read my mind. People don’t just do this with elevators but buildings/public transport/entrances/exits in general. The other day, I was trying to get out of the post office and opened the door to get out. This guy trying to come in tried to PUSH his way into the post office before I could even get out. It’s like, “Hello, let people OUT before you go in – COMMON SENSE.” Sadly, people lack that sense nowadays.
Other pet peeves:
Performers on subway during rush hour (I live in NYC and rush hour is crowded on trains as it is – we don’t need your taking up room by dancing/singing/soliciting)
When parents can’t control their children and their kids are running all over the place in tight dangerous spaces like the subway platform – seriously, I’ve nearly stepped on a couple kids b/c the parents just let them run all over the platform
People arguing with bus drivers over something the bus driver can’t control especially during rush hour
I’m sure there are more, but that’s all I got for now.

@peachacid: Awesome. I will try that next time some asshole tries to shoehorn himself/herself into a building/subway car/bus as I am trying to get out.
