I am 5ft tall, shirt size small, and pant size 2-4 (sometimes 0 depending on the store). I CANNOT seem to find business casual clothes ANYWHERE. I must have gone to every store in town and none of the pants fit right. Either they’re too long or the waste is HUGE. Help me! I need to throw out my entire closet and start over!
Where do you shop?

@prettyinpink11: I feel your pain. I’m 5’1 and even clothing in the petite sections are too long for me. Unfortunately, I haven’t found any one place that carries clothing that fits me exactly. Because of this, I tend to buy most of my clothes from Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack because they offer complimentary tailoring for Nordstrom card holders. It helps to save on the costs of getting things altered.

I have to shop online, which is often a pain 🙁
I am 4’11”, 112lbs, size small/medium tops, size 2-4 pants.
Gap has petite length pants that fit me well. I wear a 2P right now in their sizes.
Occasionally I can find some petite short length pants at Kohls, again, only online.
To be honest, since I know that almost everything will have to be altered, I often shop at discount stores like TJ Maxx for work clothes and dress pants. That way, if I have to alter myself or pay for alterations, the total price is not outrageous. In my area, I can find some nice brands there in sizes 2-4 or 2P-4P.

@Olive12: thats a great thing to know. Thank you! It is so frustraiting!
@MsBlackberry: I’ll have to try Gap! I looked at Marshalls today and the crotch areas were HUGE it looked like I had a penis 🙁 with a boner lol I will have to look for more name brand pants from there and find a good tailor

BananaRepublic has a good variety of petite clothes in store and online. I’m 5’4″ but petite proportions work much better on me. Ann Taylor/Loft also have petite clothes I’ve purchased in the past.
Honestly though, I kind of gave up trying to find clothes that fit off the rack. I buy things based on how complicated they will be to be altered. I’ve found a tailor I love and end up taking a lot of stuff to her. Also, Nordstrom offers free alterations on any items you purchase there. Another reason I love Norstrom.

@prettyinpink11: Hello from another petite bee (5’1″ @ 105 lbs). Banana Republic fits best on me right off the rack. You might get some ideas searching through the blog called Extra Petite. I love her site and she’s pretty well known in the fashion blogger world. http://www.extrapetite.com

@prettyinpink11: In Canada, I shop at Reitmans or Smart set. I’m petite too, 5’0 a little under 100lbs. Usually I fit into xs shirts and 4p pants. I have to admit that its not easy to find clothes when your petite. There is a blog that I follow find that she has a nice style. Although there are many other bloggers that style which are petite.

@prettyinpink11: You should definitely follow this girl’s blog!
[edited: just realized someone else posted about her too]
I’m 5’2″ and usually a size 00, 00s, or 0p depending on the stores. I typically shop at Banana Republic, Express, and I also get a tailor to hem my pants. I know it is an extra cost but it’s SO worth it to get tailoring done. I’ve owned the same business pants for years and never have to worry about shopping for them again until they’re worn thin.
