I wish I knew this back in January before I ordred my wedding dress.
I am petite – 5’0″, small boned, big busted. I ordered this dress in a size 10 (so I could get it zipped up past my chest) – my hips/waist are a size 2.
I ordered the dress hollow-to-hem, but it was still too long so the seamstress had to shorten it a few inches. That was $180. It was so expensive because she had to take off the lace band between the skirt and bust, then shorten the lace and the under fabric.
Yesterday was my 2nd fitting for taking the hips in and getting a bustle put in. Because she has to take in the fabric at my hips from basically my waist to my knees it’s an additional $255.
So, in hindsight I wish I would have ordered a mermaid style dress that wasn’t lace, or order more of a ballgown or A-line style dress. If you are petite be prepared to get your dress majorly altered, or pick a design that isn’t so fitted through your hips.
