emily20 :  I feel your pain! I am a similar height to you! But I think so much it depends on your build, so try on lots of styles! This was my dress  I found the plain skirt elongated me as proportionally I have a long back and short legs!

I’m 5’1” and am standing on a pedestal for most of these. Im petite with a more athletic build. I’m going to spam you with photos. Only way to know what works for you is to try it on. Happy dress shopping!

emily20 :  I’m 5’3″ and wore about 3 inch heels for the ceremony, then switched to sandals afterwards.

I’m 5’2” and wore 3.5 inch heels. I found a-lines were definitely most flattering, fitted styles made me look boxy and hippy and ball gowns were overwhelming. But it totally depends on your bitty type, im broad shouldered and not really curvy.

Yay for petite brides!

I’m 4’11, and will be wearing 3” heels with a 1 1/2” platform.

My dress:

(Please ignore my black bra!)

Another dress I tried on:

I loved the back on the second dress, but wasn’t crazy about the sheath silhouette.  The A-line was more my style. (And had a gorgeous back too)

I’m taller at just under 5’4″, but I will be wearing heels less than 2″ at the wedding because I don’t want to be taller than my SO at 5’6″. I have a small frame and like how I look in fitted styles.

My dress is from Eddy K, and I was able to order a custom hollow-to-hem length so that I won’t need the dress hemmed. This was important to me, because I wanted a dress with a bold lace pattern, which would have made hemming more complicated.

The custom length came out perfect; I can walk without stepping on the front of my dress, but the hem still grazes the floor when I’m standing. So I’m glad I don’t have to worry about that.

I’m about 5″1 and wore heels on the day.  I usually don’t lean towards fitted things but I found fitted dresses were more elongating and suited me more than the super flowy whimsical dresses I had pictured.
