HI! I am 5’1" so I def have this problem. I used to use Ann Taylor too, but they seem to be changing directions in a negative way.

Jcrew has a fabulous selection of Petite dresses, but you have to order them online so know your size! Banana does too, but I’m not too crazy about their styles.

I also recently discovered this NYC botique called Mint http://www.shopmint.com near my apartment. The buyer is petite, so she gets a ton of dresses cut for shorter/smaller women. I walked out with three dresses the last time I went there, my Fiance was shocked because he knows how hard it is for me to find anything!

Banana Republic is usually really good for petite sizes and so is Jcrew.
Do you have a H&M near you?
Good Luck! It really is hard finding "good" petite sizes especially for formal wear.

Oh, I forgot! Anthropologie carries petite dresses too, and they are very girly – perfect for a rehearsal dinner.

I’m petite too and I love BCBG dresses.  They don’t have a specific "petite" section, but they all seem to fit just fine.  Otherwise, Neiman Marcus is my go-to dress store.  Hope that helps!  Good luck!

Hm. Do you want something a little more funky? If so, Charlotte Russe & Forever 21 (gasp! I know) have more fun stuff! You have to be careful with those two though, some of their stuff are a little skanky. Hhaha. But they are definitely made for the more petite.
Or how about Gap? The Limited? Express?

Mint is on Colombus in the low 80’s (either 80th, 81st or 82nd) on the West side of the street. If you live in NYC, totally check it out! I was a non-believer that I would ever be able to shop outside of Jcrew until I discovered it. Once I pay off my credit card bill, I’m going back!

It is sooo hard for me to find dresses, but banana republic has great petite dresses.  Anthropologie has petites online, but not very many to choose from.  Also, if you go online, gap has petites also.  Nordstroms.com has a dress shop and they have tons to choose from…I’ve gotten a Nicole Miller dress from there for pretty cheap (compared to what the prices normally are!).  Good luck…I know how frustrating it is!
