I’m wondering if any of you have or are planning to involve your pets in your wedding. If so, in what way were they included?
We have a golden retriever who is like our child. She’ll be at the wedding location because we’re renting the B&B for the weekend and we’re debating on whether to include her in anything other than pictures.

I won’t have pets in my wedding but I’ll have pets at the wedding. It’s most likely in my dad’s backyard so I want my dogs there for some cute pictures.
I’m not a huge fan of dogs as part of the wedding party or anything but I love them in pictures 🙂

@vabride2011: I’d love to but ours are too big and too much of a handful when other people are around. We’ve got 3 – 2 Ridgebacks and 1 black Labrador. The Lab will be involved in the pics though.

A close friend of ours had one of their dogs as the ring bearer, and the other as the escort for his wife when she came down the aisle with her dad. It was ADORABLE! They gave both the dogs Kongs to chew on at the front so they would settle down (they’re both incredibly well trained, one is a working police dog), so they were both content and happy. Every now and then you’d hear their teeth squeeking on the Kong but that was it. Oh and apparently the police dog had a huge fart, but I didn’t hear it, I think only the bride and groom did, LOL! Ahhhh pets…

If they are well-behaved and able to handle the excitement, I think it’s great.

We are going to inlcude my jack russell when we get announced at the reception and take some pictures. We couldnt include him at the church because they wouldnt allow it and because he is hyyppper! We are excited he is at least going to be part of the day!

We are going to have ours be our ring bearer. She’s small and well behaved, so I don’t think there will be any trouble there, and the wedding is outside, so that’s not a problem.

We go back and forth on this.
I have a golden retriever, who has gone through therapy dog training (meaning he knows when he’s “on” and is unusually obedient). He’s on our Save the Date already. We know he’ll be incorporated somehow.
My issue is that someone will have to take him home after the ceremony and I don’t want that person to feel like they are missing out. We live about 20 minutes from our venue, so it won’t be a huge trip.
By The Way, I’ve been collecting pictures of dogs in weddings here: http://pinterest.com/smallchic/wedding-dogs/

I am thinking of including my horse somehow, but I haven’t figured out how yet.
I’d LOVE to include my dog, but he is very much not good with crowds, so he’ll be at home sleeping and maybe enjoying some extra treats!

A friend of mine did her TTD shoot with her gelding! She and her hubby got back in their weddine attire and the shoot looked just awesome!! Less pressure to get the pics she wanted on the wedding day itself.
Back to the OP. Also an owner of a golden retriever! He brought the ring to me at 11 weeks old for the proposal, so we had to include him in the ceremony. At first I thought ring bearer, but then I decided I just wanted him there, no role. He’s got a bit of a role now, I have a long walk to the top of the aisle where I will walk with my Mom and so he is going to walk with me!
He’s going to wear this: http://www.etsy.com/listing/48674651/dogs-tie-and-collar
and his breeder’s are coming to the wedding, so they will hold him during the ceremony and then our dog walker is coming to get him from the venue after he’s done some photos with us and she’ll take him home for the night, drop him off at our place at bedtime and we’ll be home later in the night!

I desperately want to include my dog in the wedding as ring bearer, but Fiance and my mom are adament that he not be there :(. I happened across a post on stylemepretty where they included a doggy topiary and I thought it was adorable. Although Fiance thinks its dumb I am not conceeding and will have a doggy topiary there to represnt our pooch.

@agerard23: What??? Have your doggy there! My fiance hates, well likes to pretend he hates my little Shih Tzu Simba. He already has his tux and lei for my wedding. I just force Simba onto him. He was there before my fiance, so there!

@jerrbear585: haha my Fiance openly loves the dog very very much, but thinks it isn’t practical to have him there. Someone will have to watch him, and he is a timid dog who isn’t all that well trained- so his walk down the aisle will more than likely turn into a sit-down-in-the-middle-and-refuse-to-move kind of deal. So, I actually understand where he is coming from and do not want a guest stuck on doggy duty all day either!
