I would loooove to bring my dog to my wedding, and I don’t even have a dog (I want one really bad though).  Although i’d love to do it, I would also consider where we were having the wedding and whether it was practical or not. I’d probably also want someone specific designated to watch the dog so I wouldn’t have to worry about possibly cleaning up poop while in my wedding dress.

I don’t mind a dog in a picture if you really love that dog. But I don’t like when they are the ring bearer or something. Just seems too far to me. The only thing is that unfortunately that dog will pass on and will be in your wedding pics forever and you will likely have other pets in the future. Just something to consider.

I have no problem with pets being included in the wedding. But I was at a wedding where the dog was there, and she barked a lot during the ceremony. It was REEEEALLY distracting.

Also, if your dog jumps on people, keep in mind they’ll be wearing nice clothes and wouldn’t appreciate them getting torn or stained.

I don’t think it’s tacky at all, but if I had any concerns about my dog misbehaving I wouldn’t dare bring him! My dog is totally neurotic and would be a nervous wreck around that many people, so although I’d love him to be there on the big day, he probably won’t be included on that day.

I love the idea of including a pet, but since you said he might be jumping on people and yelping that might not be the best idea. Maybe just include your dog in engagement pictures, instead?

If your venue allows it, I say go for it! Our dog was an honored guest at our wedding and both she and the other guests loved it!!

She stayed with me while I got ready…

She insisted on being in our portraits…

She sat with us at dinner (that’s her on her

“inner tube bed” on the sand in front of our table)…

And she even managed to help herself to some cake! LOL…

@NotYourTypicalBride: I showed the picture of your dog sideways in that top picture to my fiance the first time I saw it and he LOVED it!  I think we’re “dog people” and just totally get that little moment. 🙂

I go back and forth on whether to have my golden in our wedding.  On one hand, he’s extremely well trained (was even in therapy dog training before my busy season started).  On the other, someone is going to have to miss some of the wedding to take him home after the ceremony (the grounds of our venue are dog friend, but the inside is not).

He’d look so darn cute in a flower collar.  Maybe we’ll do a shoot after the wedding so we can have pictures with him,
