Hello all! I was hoping to get some opinions on if I should get a petticoat for my dress. I think I’d like a little extra poof, and the design in front on the skirt kinda gets loss in the fabric folds (maybe poofing it out a little will show it off). Also, the skirt is a bit long, and I was hoping to wear flats or low heals. I know a petticoat will lift the dress off the ground a bit more; does anyone have an idea of how much this usually changes the length? If I do decide on the petticoat, I’m not sure what kind to get. Are crinolines and petticoats the same things? What are the advantages of hoops versus no hoops? I was looking on ebay and there a lot of choices for around $20 (I don’t need anything fancy), but I don’t know which is best. I would really appreciate any opinions and help! Thanks everyone!
Here is a picture of me in my dress:

Your dress is beautiful:) I Think it’ll poofy out more with a full crinoline that should also help with the length .I added a medium size crinoline under mine and it brought it up from the length a lot. I don’t know about the hoop ones never tried them,u should try both and see which one you are more comfy in:)

Crinolines and petticoats are essentially the same thing. I think a medium fullness crinoline would look great – you probably don’t need one with a hoop.

Aww, thanks NanaluvzGeo. I was leaning towards no hoop so it’s good to get some reassurance. 🙂

the big benefit of hoops is that they are lighter and cooler.

The pp is right, but I still can’t stand hoops! When the hoop flips up (which it will inevitably do sometime during the night when you’re dancing, etc) it shows your everything!

I would recommend a three ring hoop. It’ll give you great poof and will help keep your dress off of your legs. (BTW, I danced in mine for 4 hours and it never flipped upwards).

I would vote for a crinoline, but no hoop. My good friend had a hoop skirt, which gave great shape and was super comfortable and lightweight, but in every picture with her husband, the hoop is shoved to one side and looks stiff. again, it looks beautiful, but she couldn’t stand next to people without it looking awkward. You have a gorgeous dress, so I’m sure any solution would be fine, but that’s my two cents! Post pictures when you make the decision!
