- Wedding: November 2011
When I first met my Fiance we discovered that we both enjoyed the musical/opera/movie Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber. (Okay I was slightly obsessed with it)
So when we got engaged I already knew two definites about our wedding; I wanted a PotO theme with red/black/white as the color scheme and I wanted an evening wedding.
When I first started planning in my head how I wanted the wedding to look/feel, we had not set a budget, so most of my dreams were a bit unrealistic. Once we finally sat down to set the budget I realized that I would have to be a bit more creative/frugal. We set on a budget of $6000.00, mostly to be paid by us. We really could not afford to have it higher.
My dream would of been to create a theater experience for my guests by getting married at the Denver Center for Performing Arts, but the cost of renting anything there was the total cost of our budget so I had to look elsewhere.
While looking online, I found a little place called Christies of Genesee which had lovely views of the Denver lights at night. I knew immediately this was where I wanted to be married. The best part was that Christies offered the catering/music/etc in their package. So when we went to look around with the future in laws I was immediately enamored with the place.
My in-laws suggested looking at other options, but there were no other options for me so a few months later we signed the contract and put down a deposit. I am really looking forward to turning Christies of Genesee into my PotO dream.
