I’m interested in doing a PhD degree. My area of specialization is Spanish /Second Language pedagogy and Methodology.
I’m in a tight situation, as I’ll have to register for a PhD program as soon as possible else I’ll lose my teaching job. Do you have an idea any university on any continent that takes PhD students at ANY time of the year?
I have seen a few, to which I can apply now but I will not receive any reply until let’s say July as earliest. That will be too late for me.

I can’t imagine a respectable program that would, sorry! Usually applications are due in Nov.-Jan. and you find out if you are admitted mid-March and usually need to accept or decline by mid-April — at least in my field.

@Umbrelline: I’m confused — too late for what? I’ve never heard of a PhD program that accepts students/lets students start year-round. All of the programs I applied to, I applied in November, interviewed in January/February, and had to make a decision by April 15. I started June 1.

@Umbrelline: Have you tried looking at countries that run their academic year differently to the USA such as Australia?
Our academic year is Feb-Nov. But I am fairly certain that applications for programs would probably have closed late last year but you might get lucky if they have had refusals to offers.

@j_jaye: thanks for the idea. I’ll be checking Australia. I’m sure I’ll get something.
