I ran into this same problem (but outside the city)…many salons aren’t open on Sundays, so I think they charge you extra to ‘open the doors’ for you.

Have you considered having someone come to you?  I just booked Natalie: http://www.hair-bynatalie.com/ and I’m very excited to see what she’ll come up with at my hair trial!

I used Natalie Pagano — she’s fantastic and she comes to wherever you are getting ready.  (She’s near Philly, but we got married in DE.)  She did all of my bridesmaids and my mom, and everyone loved their hair, especially me!  (http://www.hair-bynatalie.com

Oh I know, I think anything to do with ‘wedding’ is ridiculous.  I’m slowly starting to adjust my mental pricing for wedding reality.  “Just $450 for a dress?  Wow, what a steal!”  and “How much to feed people chicken?”  There should be no excuse for charging people double…except…there is!

Once I realized that nothing around my venue (we’re out in Chester county, so the choices are fewer than in the city) was open on Sunday, I didn’t even bother calling them to see if they’d open especially for me and my tiny bridal party.  Switched over to WB, found someone who came highly recommended, and off I went :).  I’m so excited to have Natalie booked, even more so now with Sarah’s positive experience, and also Mrs. Cupcake’s blog post.  One more thing off the list!

THE LITTLE TOUCHES – out of haddonfield, NJ will come to you http://www.thelittletouchesnj.com Kristine and her mom brenda are wonderful. She does both hair and make up and while i already had my make up artist she charged a flat fee of $55 per head whether hair was up, down, curled, or straight. Trial was $50. I highly recommend

One more suggestion — Salon Vanity (located at 17th and Walnut, above Juicy Couture).  I go there to get my hair cut, and they do a great job styling after the cut.  My wedding isn’t in Philly, or I’d go there.  I go to see Alyson, but I know there are other great stylists there.

I had mine done by Bella Angel. It was $250 for bridal hair and make up (tiral included) and I THINK $180 for the BM’s. They travel to you-I had to pay for their valet parking at the hotel but that was no big deal.

I LOVED how I looked and all of my BM’s looked beautiful.

Your best bet is finding a stylist from a salon to come to YOU. I also tried to book Natalie Pagano, but she wasn’t available on my date. As many of the bees here have indicated, she came HIGHLY recommended to me, so make sure you call her NOW as her dates fill up quickly.
