Hello! I recently got married in the Philadelphia area, and I had some fantastic vendors (and one really bad one..).
So, here is a rundown:
Photographers: Baiada Photography- Stan and Gordon. They were fantastic. Our pictures are beautiful, the candids (which are most of them) are amazing. Note: they are very "photojournalist" so if you are looking for a lot of formals, these are not your people. They much prefer to fade into the background and just snap away. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
Video: Wellspun Weddings-Mitch. We haven’t gotten our video yet, but Mitch was fantastic on our wedding day. Completely non-intrusive and we forgot he was there completely. Plus- super super reasonably priced! Will let you know our final review once we get the video.
Venue: HollyHedge Estate- Amazing. HollyHedge is a bit pricey, but so much was included, and the food was incredible. The cocktail hour food was ridiculously good- people could not stop raving. It was SO much better than at the tasting. I told the chef that he really undersold, overdelivered. Their staff was unbeatable. Incredibly flexible and accomodating. Everything was top notch, and the service was above and beyond.
Cake: Annie B’s. Our cake was included in our package with HollyHedge. We tasted a couple flavors at the tasting, picked a design out of a book, and that was all. Seriously we spent out 5 minutes on the cake. People told me it was the best wedding cake they had ever had. It was beautiful and delicious! (I think the flavor was chocolate truffle).
Dress: Nicole’s (Jenkintown). Great! The alterations are meticulous, and the service is incredible. We also ordered our bridesmaid dresses there for girls all over the country, and it worked out great! They took care of shipping them out to the bridesmaids and gave a 15% discount because I got my dress there.
Tuxes: Men’s Wearhouse. We only had a few people renting tuxes because most of the guys owned them, but everyone was renting vests. It was a bit of a mess- one of the children’s tuxes was completely the wrong size, one groomsman’s was completely wrong, etc. They did fix everything though. I would just caution you to have everyone check everything immediately upon picking up there stuff (meaning try it on!) If I were to do it again I would still go with MW just for pure convenience.
Hair: Karen Capisco. Karen was great. I went to one trial with a clear idea of what I wanted, she did it, I hated it, and she just kept trying different things. I went back again, we tried more stuff, and found a great style. She was so patient and willing to work with me. The day of the wedding she and her assistant were FANTASTIC. All of the bridesmaids and the mothers loved their hair and they stayed in all night.
Makeup: Janet Indorf. Janet was expensive, but worth it. Everyone looked their absolute best. She is a Bobbi Brown makeup artist and only uses Bobbi Brown makeup. All of the makeup was natural looking but just incredible. I wish I could have her do my makeup everyday.
Now, the only negative…
Florist: Hairy Mary’s (Bucks County). Please do not use this florist. They were awful. Our venue recommended them, and it was the biggest mistake we made. Our flowers were a disaster. The owner and I had been through which flowers they were going to use over and over, and I had given him specific images of arrangements which they insisted they could replicate. Not only did the flowers look nothing like the images, but the arrangements were mostly roses (when I had said I wanted no roses) and even worse, cheap, old looking roses. I cried when I saw them. He was very nice in the planning stages, but trust me, you do not want to deal with him on your wedding day when he brings you old looking roses instead of the peonies and ranunculus you had contracted for. Run far far away from Hairy Mary’s. You would be better off getting flowers from the grocery store. PM me if you would like more details.
Well that’s about it! Feel free to contact me for any more information on any of our vendors- I would be happy to share more.
