Hi! I don’t know what kind of architecture and design you like, but when I was looking I thought the German Society on Spring Garden Street in Philly was so, so cool. It’s a very old building in good condition and the library especially is AMAZING. Here’s some weddings from there: http://lovemedophotography.com/blog/?tag=german-society-of-philadelphia . We loved the venue because you got an insane amount of space for 24hrs for the same price that lots of other Philly venues charge for like 6 hours (not that you’d be partying for 24hours, but it’s nice to not worry about set-up/take-down timelines.) I ended up going with another place because we wanted more outdoor space, but take a look at the German Society if you’re looking for cool (old) architecture (and it’s easy to get to from the NJ bridges). Also, it’s so close to Silk City and Northern Liberties- when we decided against the venue it was hard for me to let go of the idea of everyone walking to an after-party at Silk! Best of luck in your search 🙂

Hi there-

I’m getting married at the Tendenza in northern liberties.  very cool desing inside.  It is catered by cescaphe…they also have a new venue called Vie that is beautiful inside and has an option for an outdoor reception.  The Arts Ballroom by Stephen Starr is vey nice as well.  They all have nice architecture.

If you have a large budget- check in to TRUST.  It’ awesome and it’s the Real Word house but rental can be pricy and you need to bring everything in yourself.  it’s an old bank in old city so it has some cool features.

Hope this can help!Smile

Oh venue hunting! hope it is going well: dont forget to have fun every step of the way : ) you should definitely check out the Aldie Mansion in Doylestown. (Im getting married there this June and couldnt be more excited!).  It is a historic home, owned by Heritage Conservancy.  (Hopefully the architecture you are looking for).  Not your typical banquet hall ballroom- with beautiful grounds.  http://www.aldiemansion.com/main.htm  good luck!

I got married at Front & Palmer in Philly and am pretty much obsessed with it. Insanely beautiful and unique and dramatic. It’s a converted pickle barrel factory so it’s got a a modern, slightly industrial, loft-like feel. Not at all like a standard ballroom. The folks there are terrific to work with and incredibly flexible. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Feel free to let me know if you have any specific questions re: price, experience, vendors, etc. Happy to help!!

@mizmaz:  I would love to know specifics about the price and vendors!  Did you have to decorate yourself, or did they have the furniture, ect?   Your wedding looks fabulous!

@Rachaeldesigns:  I was in your same boat- refused to do the hotel ballroom thing- Where to start- first off some of these are pricey but idk your budget—- We are having our wedding at the please touch museum which i thnk is drop dead gorgeous- also franklin institute was a runner up.  The curtis center atrium run by cescaphe is awesome as well. Google these places- youll fall in love!
