rtavs:  You should absolutely look into Jeffrey Miller Catering venues.  The Philadelphia Racquet Club is awesome, and so is the American Swedish Historical Museum (where I’m getting married in October!!).  Their pp is in definitely in your budget and their food is aboslutely AMAZING. They also have event coordinators that really help plan out all of the important parts of the reception so there’s no need for a wedding coordinator! They are awesome to work with!!

We got married at the Knowlton Mansion in the northeast.  It is a mansion with a beautiful banquet hall attached.  It is light wood and windows.  The food is amazing.  We were thrilled with all aspects of our wedding.

I’m getting married at World Cafe Live. It’s a really fun/cool/festive space. I was originally going to get married at a hotel–I get what you mean about the carpet. It HAUNTED me until I decided to switch lol. WCL has packages starting at 100pp.

Our church will be St. Mary’s Episcopal, which is SUPER beautiful and ten blocks away.

Oh my gosh that it AWESOME!! What month are you getting married? We loved everything! Except for the fact that they threw out our top tier of the wedding cake along with our cake topper. ๐Ÿ™

So exciting! If you need any suggestions on vendors or anything else please let me know!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Just be aware that they will literally charge you for anything and everything extra including things like dropping things off and picking up. Ridiculous lol So make sure you have people set up to collect EVERYTHING out of the venue the night of your wedding or else youre gonna get a nice penalty fee!

We ended up paying I believe an extra $400 just to use the bridal suite the morning of our wedding.

For those still searching for a venue check out the Jeffery Miller Catering properites. They are unique, offer great tasting food and even have a bistro menu that is reasonably priced. Good Luck Brides

rtavs:  Hello,

I highly recommend Jeffrey Miller Catering.  Our per head cost is right around where you want to be and we are not compromising at all.  We are getting a lot for our money and also doing BYOB which helps keeps costs down.  Check them out at jamcater.com and take a look at their different venues.  We are also using their floral services called Buttercup, especially because they were the only vendor that could guarantee the flowers we wanted within our budget.

rtavs:  Hey there! I’ve had my share of tears too, so don’t worry. Sometimes the things you think will be easy turn out to be more stressful, but the good thing is, the opposite proves true, too! Ok, so as far as venues go, the first thing I knew when I started my search was that I did NOT want a ballroom because of the ugly carpet and décor that you already mentioned. So we are on the same page there J Have you checked out Jeffrey A Miller (JAM) Catering and their venues? They have venues in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties and mine is located right around the corner from a church, so maybe you could find one near their venues that works for you. JAM has everything from mansions to modern museums to old, historic homes. I am getting married at the Anthony Wayne House in Chester County in October because I wanted a very classic and natural setting, with both outdoor and indoor spaces. We are inviting 140 people and are staying under $140/head. We have to provide the alcohol but it is a nice way to control costs. My fiancé and I had gone to a JAM wedding at the Tyler Arboretum a couple of years ago and loved the food, so that was a big factor in deciding to go with them. Everything is farm-to-table fresh and they have SO MANY options – especially for cocktail hour! We just loved all of the creative and delicious hors d’overues. Check them out here http://jamcater.com/ and on Party Space.

Have you looked at the American Swedish Historical Museum in FDR park? I’m getting married there in 9 days (ahhh) and LOVE IT. It’s in Philly but surrounded by park and across from a lake so it feels much more private and removed. There’s gorgeous outdoor space and Jeffery Miller Catering is their exclusive caterer, but meals start aroun 115 a head (well under your 180)! Their food is delish, they let you bring your own alcohol which provides huge savings.  Check it out if you’re still looking!

Yes, could not agree more with some of the other ladies posting here about Jeffrey A Miller. Their venues are all so unique and wonderful. Not to mention their awesome food. If any is looking for a venue/caterer for a wedding, they are the first option I recommend! Also, partyspace.com is a great place to lok for venues. That’s what I used to start my venue search!

Aldie Mansion! They are also a JAM exclusive venue and it is absolutely stunning. And reasonably priced. It’s a beautiful old mansion with a gorgeous backyard. It is absolutley breathtaking. JAM has a few other beautiful venues as well that are really unique – and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend checking out JAM venues – the Aldie in particular!

Definitely check out the John James Audubon Center! It’s definitely within your price range and so beautiful. It’s outdoorsy and elegant.  If that’s not exactly what you’re looking for you can check out other Jeffrey Miller sites. The food is SO GOOD!
