@limekitty:  We aren’t working with Phoneixville Foundary because we wanted our venue to be in or very close to the city because we have so many out-of-town guests…we are having our wedding at Front & Palmer in the city. It’s not rustic like a barn, but it’s a very unique venue. It is owned by a catering company, but the prices are very reasonable and the food is PHENOMENAL. I’d check Front & Palmer out ๐Ÿ™‚

@limekitty:  And by the way, Front & Palmer is definitely less than $100 a plate (not including alcohol)!

@limekitty:  ok great! I have a few options for you and I can easily give you a few more if none if there work for you.  also, here are a  few tips that helped us find the perfect venue at the best price. Sorry if you already know this but maybe it will help another bee if you do! Also , sorry this is really long!

1. With a march wedding you have the advantage of using the ‘off season’ to your advantage  (we got married in dec so also off season.) when looking at venues and discussing options , most vendors wouldn’t lower the price per person . If we really liked a venue I would straight up ask the coordinator if they gave an off season discount. Most venues don’t discount per say but a few offered upgrades on food selections  or offered to throw in extras to compensate us. So , don’t be shy ! If you like a particular venue straight up tell the coordinator you need to be at 100$ plate and can they help you meet  the price. maybe they would work a special menu for you to get your business, doesn’t hurt to ask .

2. Would you consider a Friday night or Subday night wedding ? I prefer fri over Sunday (just my opinion) you may be able to work a nice deal considering you are a off season , non Saturday wedding , obviously having business that night is better than no business for the venue so keep that in mind. Definitely  discuss w Fiance prior to visiting venues.  go in w goal of Saturday night 100$ pp, but if they say no way, ask about the having wedding on an alternative day and see what they say!

3. Biggest way to save money is to find venue that doesn’t charge rental fee.  I loved a few venues in Philly but the 5k rental fee was just a huge waste of money to me so I wouldn’t even look at places that had fees (aside from ceremony fee) also, a venue that doesn’t require outside catering is a way to save.

4. Are you planning to have ceremony at the same venue? having one location tends to save money but keep in mind most venues charge a small ceremony fee that covers the  set up of the area. Most places charged between 250-500$ For ceremony . the venue will likely provide the ballroom chairs so if you want something nicer you will have to rent .  I have a great rental place if you end up in NJ and you want to rent chairs.

So that’s pretty much it. Check out places and make list of top 3.  After that you can try negotiating with the coordinator to see what they can do for you. Be nice , act sweet and innocent when you ask for discounts ( no one ever made me feel bad for asking btw ) I am sure you’ll find the perfect place! So here are some places

Lucien’s manor berlin NJ. http://m.luciensmanor.com.   Probaby 20 min from center city. Our friends had their wedding here, very nice ballroom type wedding.  Had their ceremony here as well. This place gives you a crap ton of food for the money.  It’s a more updated style ballroom so a more modern feel. My friends were on strict budget. , I think they negotiated 88$ per person, Saturday night April wedding FYI. There aren’t hotels around the corner but, they were able to rent a bus  to take people to hotels .  Ask venue what they’d recommend.

Carriage house, Galloway NJ. http://www.the-carriagehouse.com.  I really liked this venue but my then Fiance really wanted a hotel vebue.  The coordinator worked me a fantastic deal I think for around 90$ person . Our ceremony would have been here too. This place is about 10 min from AC so nice for guests and an after party ! there is a beautiful hotel about 5 min away , http://www.stocktonseaview.com (hotel used to be marriott properly but local college purchased it ) FYI, the seaview is a very popular wedding venue around here so you can check them out too! We didn’t so I have no idea about price.

Smithville inn, Smithville nj. http://smithvilleinn.com/weddings.  more rustic feel but not a barn, historic hotel . Venye is in a little historic complex w cute shops , eateries and a lake. my friend got married here , Saturday night wedding in April and I know she was on a budget. So definitely talk to coordinator about prices if it’s a venue your interested in. The same hotel, http://www.stocktonseaview.com is 5 min away. You can also stay at Smithville inn however I don’t think there are enough rooms for an entire wedding . again this venue is about 10 min from AC.

(fyi ) for guest transportation we rented a jitney. (my friends have also used them for weddings too!) jitneys are 12 passenger mini buses that are part of public transportation in AC. They are owner operated so lots of them rent out their jitneys for private events.  I have 3 owners I’ve used in past if you want their info.  Typically it’s 100$ hour to rent. they can shuttle your guests back and forth from hotel to venue or whatever you want! They let you stock the  bus w drinks and decorate if you wanted to!

the chelesa hotel in AC. http://www.thechelsea-ac.com. Right on the boardwalk.  I freaking love this hotel, Art Deco yet modern decor, great photo ops! Anyway we actually booked our wedding here but due to problems w a bitchy wedding coordinator we backed out. That coordinator has since been fired (actually rught after our ordeal.) when you initially look at prices for weddings it will be way over budget but if your interested in venue try these two things. They often run wedding package specials so ask if one is running or google search Chelsea wedding specials to see what deal included. We booked under a special even though our date fell after the special ended. Can’t hurt to ask! Ceremony would have been here too. the hotel is great but be warned, the area thst hotel is actually in is one of the sketchier areas in AC so don’t go walking around outside at night! They have valet parking and it’s totally safe just don’t be stupid!

last but not least, where we had wedding, Sheraton Hotel AC. ( miss America offices used to be inside this hotel)

http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/meetings/fas_detail.html?propertyID=270&fasXRefId=1004246924.  I will not lie, I never thought about this venue for our wedding, I had never been inside it despite living near AC and I had a stereotype in my mind about what it looked like inside. I was wrong. We only looked here after we backed out of the Chelsea bc we wanted to keep our wedding in AC since we had booked vendors. This place is beautiful!  modern, unique all of the things you are looking for. Over last 3 years the coordinator (hired 3 yrs ago) has revamped their wedding packages and it’s becoming very popular Venue.   They are willing to work w you on packages (they did for us and we had fri December wedding.) not sure how many guests you’ll be having but we invited 120 had about 112 . They have a traditional ballroom but we wanted something different! We used Boulevards cafe for our reception room. Floor to ceiling windows w view of AC skyline ! Problem is you wouldn’t want more than 120 guests in there so if you have larger guest list you’ll have to use ballroom for reception. Our Cocktail hour was in the shoe bar, (they have old miss America contestant shoes inside this wall , hard to explain but so cool!) beautiful huge wooden bar w stations  and passed hour d’ oeuvres . Ceremony was in the gallery room (old miss America offices ) beautiful unique space for ceremony. Long story short.  500$ ceremony fee, total was 118$ per person but included top shelf open bar 5 hours, cocktsil hour 5 different passed hour d’ourcres 3 stationed appetizers, dinner ( we wanted station set up) we had beef carving station , potato station( all different types w fixings ) salad station (2 types ) sushi and sashimi station (big hit, sushi comes from this awesome restaurant in brigantine nj where we actually live lol) pasta station (chef prepared for each guest) and another w vegetables , rolls and garlic bread . Wedding cake included. ( comes  from the best bakery in the area) as well as a tray of mini desserts for each table .  w. Could have gotten price down by ditching sushi and downgrading bar to basic brands but we chose to keep as it was. room block rate was awesome, 88$ night and Beautiful rooms! Complimentary valet parking on night of wedding for guests, and you and Fiance will get complimentary suite for wedding night! It’s an amazing suite! I rented it for night before wedding so I could sleep apart from Fiance for 88$ .

if you have any questions please just ask! I love to help people w wedding planning !!

  • Wedding: May 2015

Have you considered hotels? I know when I was searching I was against hotels but this one ballroom at the Radisson in Trevose we LOVED! And it is where we are having our May 2015 wedding reception.

We are having a Friday night wedding to save on some of the cost. We are doing a more expensive wedding package with open bar, uplighting and chair covers. We are spending about $9800 for 100 people. The packages range from $74-$99 and that pricing is for a Friday night wedding during peak season so the pricing may be discounted more for an off season wedding.

I was trying to find a venue that was more “unique” then country clubs, hotels, etc but a lot of them cost more money then I was willing to spend. Also, the ones with rental fees were BYOB for the most part and Fiance did not want that “hassle”

How many guest are invited? I Have a long list of venues that I contacted as soon as I got engaged in March this year.

We just had our wedding at the Inn at St. Peter’s Village last weekend. It was beautiful and the prices were amazing! It’s about an hour from Philly in French Creek State Park.

We will be just across the river at the Double Tree in Mt. Laurel, so far everything has been fantastic in dealing with them and the food is amazing its $85 pp in mid April.  The Clarks Landing Yacth Club in Riverside is beautiful, but I think you might be under the minimum for a Saturday night, but they might work a deal for a Friday/Sunday wedding.
