Has any had their wedding or been to one at Morris Arboretum? We love it but it’s a bit tight for our guest list (175) and wanted to know if anyone’s had a similar number and how it was. We also weren’t super impressed by the rain plan so if anyone actually had to go with that setup I would love to hear your feedback!

I looked at Morris Arboretum and their rain plan was one of the main reasons we backed out. The venue is gorgeous, there are so many great places for pictures, the cocktail hour in the trees looked amazing, and their ceremony locations are awesome, but if it rains, you are getting married in a conference room. I couldn’t see a way to spruce that up and just wasn’t willing to take the chance. I think they really need to evaluate a way to make a covered space for weddings, or come up with some alternate plan.
I very much wanted that outdoor vibe for my wedding, so we also looked at the John James Audubon Center and Tyler Arboretum. I loved both, but Tyler’s was just more convenient for our guests. The caterer for both is Jeffrey Miller and I have really enjoyed working with them. Their food is farm to table and honestly super delicious. They throw in a coordinator to work with you on your menu and those 100 other little details that go into a wedding. I would recommend either venue as they are both amazing.

@sayyestoundress: probably booking at Appleford Estate sometime this week! More expensive, but a much better fit for a guest count and a practical rain plan 🙂

I looked at Morris Arboretum online and contacted them for pricing and I wasn’t that impressed overall either. I was looking for that outdoor setting and we ended up going with the John James Audubon Center. It was better because they have contingency plans for any kind of weather and you can still really take advantage of the beautiful outdoor setting. We also were totally sold on the caterer, Jeffrey A Miller. We read tons of great reviews and found out everyone was right after our tasting in February. The food is outstanding and they really pay attention to detail to make your day exactly what you want. I would definitely recommend checking them out!

Another thread with people advertising for JAM catering. And it’s always Bees with only a few posts. BTW, the O.P. made her mind up 9 months ago.
