Philadelphia ladies…help a bee out! We have been searching for a couple months for a great band for our Philly wedding. I’ve scoured these boards, asked for recs, received the CD mailings, etc, but keep hitting dead ends. I don’t think we’re being too picky: we just a) don’t want to spend eight million dollars, and b) would like said band to be equally adept at the old school (ie, Sinatra) and the new school (Kesha, anyone? :)) We want them to rock out a wedding just as hard as they would a bar.
Any thoughts or suggestions? We’re wondering if we should start considering the DJ route… :/

Someone on here recommended Rich Posmontier and he seems to be the most affordable. Also, Melanie Rice is pretty affordable and seems to be pretty decent. I saw the EBE showcases and they’re very good but a little pricey.

We used Bigg Romeo and they were fantastic and reasonable compared to others that we looked at. They don’t do showcases, so we went to see them at a bar one Friday night and were immediately convinced that they would be great. They definitely played the most recent songs of any wedding band I’ve heard, but they also know all of the classics.

You must book Central Park – only because you said both frank and modern music. They were absoluetly fantastic – we saw them perform at the new casiono at the n.east race track a booked a few days afterwards.
Here’s their website: http://www.centralparktheband.com/Main%20Files/index.htm

we LOVED Vibe Tribe (http://www.vibetribeprod.com) – guests are still talking about them – and they were cheaper than a bunch of other philly area bands.

How much is Bigg Romeo? They don’t have pricing on their website? Chatterband is also really good and I believe they are more reasonably priced than some of the others.

@km1234: My friend just had Bigg Romeo at her wedding-it was 6,000 and I think that was a deal because she was referred by a friend. Is that a good deal?! I couldn’t believe how expensive they are..
