My fiance proposed to be this past December, right before Christmas! I’m still beaming.. but it’s slowly turning into stress due to the planning of this wedding. Here are some details…
We plan on having a small wedding – around 40 people. We would like it to be in the city of Philly itself, but are willing to go outside of the city as long as it’s not too far. The majority of our guests will be flying in, and the rest will be driving at least a couple of hours. So, we also need to think about hotel rooms for my guests.. whether it’s a hotel venue or not. In terms of when.. this November. I am looking at Friday November 11, 2016. I figure November is typically considered off-season and Friday events are usually a little cheaper. We are really wanting to keep the budget for everything below 10k. As far as the type of venue we want.. we’re pretty open. Neither one of us are religious, so an active church would be out. I would prefer something like an urban loft with high ceilings.. that would be my favorite type.
After researching different venues online, I’m starting to feel like it’s impossible to find a venue for less than 4k – am I missing something? If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!

$4k venue for 40 people isn’t a bad budget but the issue is The majority of venues had a 25k minimum that we looked at. Would you consider a restaurant Instead of a traditional reception venue? Maybe you could rent out a space and just hire a cater Separately? You could price compare. Sorry I can’t be much help. Good luck!

Society of Colonial Dames! The rental fee was super affordable and it would be perfect for your size wedding 🙂 you hire your own caterer from their list so hitting a minimum shouldn’t be a problem 🙂
ETA: Manayunk brewery has more of that urban/loft feel and are pretty affordable. I think they have a minimum but it was only $5000 for a Saturday evening so I assume it’ll be less for friday

We used partyspace.com for Phila. Call the venues you’re interested in. Many have smaller rooms than those advertised. I believe the place where my daughter had her bridal shower is advertised for 250, but that’s the capacity of their ballroom. Her shower room held 40. It also has hotel rooms attached, but the core is a Main Line mansion, so not your style.
