The Please Touch Museum because at the time it was newly opened and unique, very few weddings had taken place yet.

I wanted to do something in the city but for the amount of people we have (275) I couldn’t find a venue that would fit our budget. So we chose to go to the outskirts and ended up with Carinwood in Bryn Athyn, PA. LOVEEEE it. 🙂 It’s totally different from that  standard hall-feel which is perfect for our cocktail reception with no assigned seating. We want people mingling and dancing all night. 🙂

Washington Crossing Inn in Bucks County.  It fit 150 people comfortably.  It was the right price and was all-inclusive (ie, cake, centerpieces, tax and gratuity included in cost).  We could have the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all on-site.  They are known for their delicious dinner and impeccable service.  Less than 30 min away for most of our guests.  For those further away hotels were close by in Jersey and shuttles were provided.  And most importantly, it felt like we had the wedding at our house.  We wanted a homey affair.  Fortunately everyone raved about the setting and the food.  And in all honesty the dinner was much, much better than a lot of $$$ venues.

DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, DE. It’s a formal ballroom with tall ceilings and hardwood floors and lots of windows. We’re inviting ~175 people, and it was important that they all fit comfortably in the ballroom. If we had a smaller guest list, I definitely would have gone with a mansion of sorts… but that wasn’t going to happen.

I ended up getting really picky with ballrooms- I didn’t like the ceilings/chairs/carpets, etc- so this place was perfect. Plus, DuPont is know for delicious food and great service!
