The only one I can think of is The Old Mill in Rose Valley PA. I didn’t like the carpet on the inside but the outside area is really nice for a cocktail hour and it’s different.

Which element is most important to you? Since you may have to give up one to narrow down your options.

what about the Four Seasons?  It is a hotel but quite a fancy one.  It also has a pretty outdoor terrace and is centrally located.

PAFA does not have outdoor space but it’s really beautiful and elegant.

Kimmel Center Hamilton Garden – rooftop enclosed terrace

I’ve been to Colonial Dames for a wedding.  The outdoor area was beautiful and made for a gorgeous ceremony but it’s quite cramped inside for dinner and dancing.  At once point they made us all get up and moved our table to make a dance floor.

I agree on the carpet at the Old Mill! We looked at pics and that was a big turn off for us.

I know you said no barns, but there is Barn On Bridge, which was a really neat place.

What about Phoenixville Foundry? Or Robert Ryan’s Columbia Station?

There is a place that I thought was pretty neat : Fox at the Mill but I think it would be too far for you- I think it was in Bethlehem.

I’m just going to throw some out there that weren’t listed…

Barley Sheaf Farms

Penn Rynn Mansion (I think the actual event space has a different name, but I can’t remember right now…)

Maybe something in/near peddler’s village?  Not sure how many some of those restaurants could accomodate (cock n’ bull, etc.)

Stockton Inn (may not be able to accomodate that large of a group though?)

It’s a barn but Rose Bank Winery.  They have a brand new (very large) barn event space but they have a few other building spaces you could also rent out. Or maybe another winery?

Good luck!

l.b820:  It’s an hour from Philly but why don’t you look into The Gables at Chadds Ford. This is where our wedding is going to be. It has an ourside area for ceremony as well as a tented outside area for the ceremony and a indoor recepetion space with HUGE windows!! It’s beautiful and well priced. They have a hotel about 12 minutes away.

Penn Ryn Mansion

Knowlton Mansion (they do grilling outdoors if the weather is nice but otherwise have huge windows looking out)

Cairnwood Estate

Cescaphe venues (you might like the Downtown Club the most — floor to ceiling windows looking out over Independence Hall where the liberty bell is housed — talk about a good area for your guests to explore!)

Gables at Chadds Ford

Merion Tribute House (has an outdoor patio for cocktail hour; everything else indoors)

You could check out the Penn Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology.  They have beautiful indoor and outdoor options and it has everything you’re looking for in terms of location!

We are getting married at Front & Palmer, which may fit into your vision. We originally wanted outdoors but decided it was too risky with weather. We narrowed it down to Front & Palmer and The Kimmel Center. The Kimmel Center is also gorgeous, and would be within walking distance of Center City hotels.

We have a friend who is doing a non-traditional wedding and having her ceremony at Morris House Hotel and then a dinner at Zahav. You could consider Morris House Hotel for just the ceremony, and maybe another spot for the reception? I saw a girl’s pics who did her ceremony at Morris House Hotel & reception at Front & Palmer – I would totally do that if I had an unlimited budget!!! Pics from that set-up: http://www.alisonconklin.com/blog.cfm?postID=861&dara-and-sal-front-and-palmer

Springfield Country Club recently renovated their outdoor space and the photos look gorgeous! But I think they’re kinda a wedding factory – multiple events on site on the same day. Not sure if that’d bother you….

Good luck!!
