@NikkiKillpretty:  tweaking photos creates wonders to a photo that was once “blah”. Dont you worry! Photographers know how to enhance photos to create something even more spectacular!

I use photoshop and know what its capable of!

@NikkiKillpretty:  I guess part of me would freak out, because as a professional I can’t fathom showing unedited photos to a client. Even without a full artistic edit done, I don’t know any photographers that proof images that are totally unedited. That aspect would make me question their professionalism and possibly their editing. That being said, I’m sure you saw their work ahead of time and liked them. Yes, an edited photo can be night and day from a RAW file – but the basics skill should be clearly seen.

This is why I don’t show clients the full unedited batch!  Editing makes DRASTIC differences … even for professionals.    Shooting is only half the job so there is still 50% that your photographer is doing.      If you are getting nervous, maybe choose a favortie and ask just for that single one edited.  Seeing the difference might help you feel better.

Will your photographers be editing the photos?

My photographers showed us some photos on the day of the wedding on the tiny screen on the back of their camera, unedited, and i still loved the photos. Photos should still be rather good (or at least decent) before editing, there is only so much you can edit/tweak.

@NikkiKillpretty:  Eeek. Yes, this is why I never ever show unedited images to clients. Like a PP said, processing the images is (more than half) the job in terms of hours. Do you feel like posting an example? Maybe we can put your mind at ease by seeing them since myself and other pro photographer bees will be able to tell their potential to be better. Is your photographer editing them, or is that something you have to seek elsewhere?

Looks like you need an email address to see them? :/

@hollyberry4: I just made up an e-mail address and it let me in.

Looks like it’s the company’s standard practice of showing clients the unedited photos.  Underneath each one, it says, “Every photo you order will be hand color corrected, enhanced, and printed on the finest quality professional photo paper.”

For your specific photos, many of the proofs do seem a bit dark or have weird shadows on the faces (ie, in front of the tank or on the stairs).  Did they not use a flash? I’m not a pro, but if I understand correctly, a fill flash for outdoor portraits could do wonders, especially when the natural sunlight is harsh.

So maybe they’ll turn out much better once you choose which ones you want to buy.

Crossing my fingers for you!  (btw, you looked lovely and it looked like a great wedding!)

I’m a wedding photographer in Louisville, KY – I’m shocked that they took so many photos in harsh sunlight & it actually looks to me like they did some minimal editing to a lot of the images – which makes me think they are the type of photographer who believes in unedited images vs. enhanced 🙂 Nothing wrong with it, but its definitely a style choice that I think they should have forewarned you about. My style is definitely much more the other direction.

Are they going to be editing them? Do you get all of the images?

I actually love to edit & have some free time before my next wedding in October – if you’re interested in having a selection of those photos edited (I’d suggest picking your favorite 20-30 images) and sending them to me we could work something out.  I feel super salesman-like at the moment but a lot of these images just need some sparkle to them & then I think you’d really love them 🙂 Just message me if you think this is something you’d like.
