Is it tacky to include a photo in your invitation? I know there are many invitations that have photos printed on them in certain places, but If the invitation is on nice cardstock with a design and such with other inserts, is it ok to insert a picture with it as well? We are having a formal wedding so I do want to follow etiquette, I don’t think its considered appropriate, but is it frowned upon? When people receive it will they think it is tacky? responses appreciated!

In my honest opinion, I would think this was strange. If your wedding is formal, it seems like your invitations should reflect that, and a photo could make things look a bit juvenile/party-ish. I design invitations for a living and I don’t think my company has ever put a photograph on an invitation in the 7 years it’s been around — that’s usually reserved for save-the-dates, if anything.
If you’d still like to include a photographic element in your invitation suite, perhaps you can order custom stamps from Zazzle.com with an engagement photo?
