- Wedding: October 2016
Hi Bees! I’ve been enagaged about a month and a half so I decided to share my proposal story.
So our backstory: my amazing FIANCE and I have been dating since we were Seniors in college. We stayed together while he was finishing his Ph.D and I was working full-time in another city. After he graduated, he took a job in California and so I left my job and we moved from Maryland to California last summer, finally moving in together for the first time. Throughout our relationship, we have been lucky enough to do a fair amount of traveling, both as a couple and with our familes and I have made him many photobooks as gifts for differnt occasion through out the years.
After talking and saving we picked out an oval pink sapphire center stone and talked about a few other details, but then I took a step back and let him take over. This was late July/early August.
Cut to 9-2-15 we were preparing to fly back to MD for a wedding and to see our family the very next day, and I walked into our apartment at 9:30 after work to this amazing sight. HE made ME a photo book! (sorry I cannot get this to rotate)
At this point I definitly wondered…’Is this it?!” The book itself is absolutely gorgeous and it starts at the beginning of when we met (heinous college party pics included lol) and took us to our trip to CA and the life we’ve built together here. All of a sudden, I flip a page and see this!:
My jaw dropped and my head snapped up to find my Hunny kneeling next to me! I won’t give you a word-by-word replay but he talked about our proven love and then said,”What do you think babe? You up for it? Will you be be my wife?”
I, of course, said “YES!” and asked him to take the ring out of the book and put it on me (at this point I hadn’t touched it at all haha). The next day we flew out and got to show it off to all our friends and family over the weekend! Here is a pic I snapped in the bathroom later that night.
I love that I will always have a momento of our propsal and that my Fiance took the time to make the book (and he loved telling me about making that ring holder). Plus, it proved to me that a living room proposal can be extremey special and even when you know it’s coming your guy can still surprise you. Thanks for reading!
