When I made vacation books recently, I basically made it twice: once on Shutterfly, once on Mixbook, and then waited for a good sale on one or the other. Haven’t used the flat option, but both companies are reputable. Watch for sales!

Pro photographer here….

check out Mpix they are great. I recommend them to all my clients that purchase their images on a flash. They are really easy and they have a great pro print lab. I don’t love shutterbug or shutterfly. Sorry. I do also recommend Milk! They are also amazing!

My (super good) photographer highly reccomends artifact uprising and using it for all of her own prints and portfolio books. I’ve never used it myself but all her books are lovely!

Harrybo:  Hello. I just ordered 2 layflat photobooks from Artifact Uprising and highly recommend them! I got one 8×11 for my parents and one 12×12 for us. Their prices are higher than shutterfly and snapfish but the quality is totally worth it. I did quite a bit of research before purchasing and decided on them because of their thick pages and fabric color choices. We chose the light grey and blush colors with gold foil stamps. Both turned out beautiful. I can post some photos if you are interested!

Harrybo:  I used shutterfly because I had a coupon for a free photobook from them. I loved it so much I bought a few more for their regular price.

If you go with them, sign up for their email, you’ll get plenty of coupons (buy one get one free/50%, etc.)

Tried Zno for a test run (engagment photos) and I was pleased

I still might check out some of the other recommendations on here though just to compare.

azbee:  I got their trial $5 book and was pleased.  Then ordered both parents albums and they loved them.  They have sales 20% off often but they also had a 20% off on credits so I pre bought to get more savings

Harrybo:  No problem! Zno (formly artisanstate) has a $5 promotion on certain items were you can try it for $5. That’s what I did with the engagement photos just to see if I liked it and I figured if I didn’t like it then I just got a $5 picture book and no harm was done.

I wanted a flush mount layflat nice book but not too spendy. I just ordered one from Artifact Uprising and will report when I get it. Shutterfly worked great for parent albums and our guestbook with our engagement photos. I did a Living Social for Collage.com and they were bad quality compared to Shutterfly.
