I don’t like the generic props either, like the boas and pimp hats. We are not renting the prop box from our photobooth vendor. Instead, I will probably buy some from Etsy, like the chalkboards and the paper moustache on a stick. I like the whimsical, kind of vintage-y look from the props on sticks. I don’t think you necessarily “have” to have them though. At the events I’ve seen with props, only about 1/3-1/2 of people use them.

no, you don’t have to have them. i’m putting together a prop box with boas, feather masks, funny hats/glasses, mostly dollar store stuff. nobody has to use them, but they’re there if they’re so inclined. i’m thinking the kids will probably enjoy them more than the adults.

They’re fun, but definitely not necessary.

we’re not having a whole lot of kids, tho it’s still more than i would prefer (my fiance has a lot of nieces and nephews). i think as far as young kids (like, age 10 and younger), there will be about 12. and in the 11-17 bracket there will be about 7.

I would say chalkboards so people can write whatever they want but none of the cheesy props like mustaches and boas

Fiance and I originally booked our booth with no props.  Our thought being that we didn’t want a bunch of pics of our friends wearing goofy stuff.

then. . we went to a wedding in April.  They had props.  People went nuts for the props. I’m talking adults – not kids.  We then added props to our booth package.

It’s hard for people to think of what to do in a photo booth.  Props loosen them up.  There are some absolutely hysterical pics from that wedding.

Our props were a HUGE hit at our wedding so I voted “yes”. While not necessary (I mean, even a photo booth isn’t “necessary”), they really are a lot of fun and make for some entertaining pictures.
