I’m starting to find that many photographers are jumping on the photobooth concept and having a ‘crazy’ photobooth. Where – instead of an actual booth, it’s a back drop where people can post with silly props, etc. Kind of photobooth style, only with more space.
I’m wondering, however, if people will like the ‘open’ format more than the closed, photobooth. I think there is something about the privacy of a photobooth that allows you to be more silly than normal. However, the photobooth is limiting, because of the tiny space.
Another ‘pro’ to the photobooth would be photos that guest could take home then and there. The crazy photo booth pics would have to be uploaded at another time.
Having been to two weddings with photobooths, I thought they went off very well. Everyone loved the nostalgia of it. I went to a party that had a crazy photo area, and it was a bit awkward, because people didn’t really seem comfortable with that format – even though, the more outgoing ones, warmed up to it.
Bee, help me out! Photobooth or crazy photo area (which my photog does at half the price of the photobooth!)

I was at a wedding that had a photo area, and it didn’t seem to be well-used, except by the kids at the wedding. I think you’re right, the privacy of the photobooth will make some people feel more free to be silly. I definitely vote for the photobooth.

guess i’m the only crazy one out there! i’ve seen great success w/ offbeat photo booths and they are fun for everyone. the key is to have a certain area for people to be in. too much room and people don’t get crazy. put out props, etc. and it gets really fun. my friend had a kissing booth that people liked a lot and i just set up a photo booth at a friends wedding.
and “photo areas” are way less money and you can print as many copies as you want!

I voted for the crazy “booth”! It’s a lot more fun & it will show the personalities of your guests!
You know your guests best… perhaps they won’t like either if they’re older and/or have never seen a photobooth done at a wedding before. Like at my wedding, I doubt my guests would use it as much as I’d hope.

I voted the crazy photo area because you can do it for next to nothing costwise! Photobooths are awesome but sooooooooooooooo expensive!
