I have the type of problem we all hope for– I have two photographers who are awesome, but I can’t decide between them.
Photog #1: Quiet couple, gorgeous photos. Their style is a bit more posed– their detail photos are awesome. $3800 with engagement shot and taxes.
Photog #2: More outgoing couple, also gorgeous photos. They are awesome at catching “in the moment” shots. Their posed/detail shots are good, but not great. $4700 with engagement shot and taxes.
The price difference is big, but i also love those photos that catch the special moments at a wedding.
How did you pick your photographer? Did you have a tough choice, or was it obvious to you?

We had to decide between two that we really liked. What it came down to was which one we had a better personal connection with.

If it’s in your budget, I’d spring for the “in the moment” shots.. I think those are the ones that you’ll be more bummed not to get, when it’s all said and done. As lovely as they are, the “detail” shots don’t usually give me the warm fuzzies in quite the same way.

Thanks for your feedback! I agree about the detail shots– those will matter a lot less than the photos of the people we love.
Is it tacky to ask the higher-cost photographer if they can negotiate? Right now, the price is pushing me towards the cheaper option.

What else is included in each photographers package besides e-shoot and wedding day coverage? Does the higher priced photographer include more extras like an album, prints, etc? That could be one way to help you decide, or maybe you could negotiate the price to include some extras!

@kalixti: That’s a good idea– to negotiate for some extras from the higher-priced vendor. Both offer basically the same thing: all day coverage, two shooters, engagement or bridal session, DVD with the images, and one print.
