Hello lovely brides!
I am having a bit of a dilemma in choosing a photographer. First of all, I had NO IDEA how quickly they book! My wedding isn’t until the end of August and half of my favorites are already booked.
I have it narrowed down to a top 2, but I need your opinions on who I should go with, if either. First, we met with a photography duo who I instantly loved personailty-wise. They immediately put me at ease and I know I would have a good day with them. But their photography isn’t quite as “artsy” as I would like. They are a bit more traditional with their style. But they capture some great moments emotionally and my fiance and I definitely clicked with them.
Then we met with another photographer. He normally works as the main photographer with his wife as the assistant or an intern if his wife is unable to be there (she’s got a baby on the way). I LOVE his photos! But he himself is a bit shy and I didn’t gel quite as well with him personality-wise. However, he was perfectly nice and polite.
In your experiences, is it more important to have a photographer with slightly better photos or a slightly better personality? My mom made the point that you are hiring them for their ability, not their personality, but I am naturally awkward in front of a camera so I feel like I need someone who will put me at ease as well.
Who should I choose?
Thanks in advance!

Personality! We had our first set of engagement picks taken with the “better pic” photographer and you could tell we were uncomfortable. He was very serious blah blah. So then we decided to take on shot on Ms. Personality who we adored, but wasn’t as well know. Our e-pics were 10x better. She made us feel comfortable and like we could ourselves. It was fantastic! Ms. Personality (lol) will be shooting our wedding.

personality. you’re going to be with this person on your entire wedding day, so it’s important that you gel with them. you want to be as comfortable as possible to get the best pictures.

Get some references from the shy photographer and call them up! See if these clients clicked with the photog. I honestly believe that good photos are the product of getting along with the clients.
That said… trust your gut. If you don’t think you will get along with the guy, you should pass.

i say personality. If you’re not comfortable with your photography team then its going to come across in your shots, and thats really the true test of ability, isn’t it?

Everyone says personality..but it is not like you hated the 2nd guy. I mean if he is quiet and shy and polite then so be it. I would go with him if hes images are that much better.
Quiet and shy is ok….unless you hate the guy and can’t stand his attitude, i say go for the 2nd one.

It depends on what you like- different strokes for different folks.
