@MariContrary:  Ooh, an associate photographer makes me nervous.  You need to see FULL weddings that she has shot, not just a gallery of the best images.  You need to know that she CONSISTENTLY delivers quality images, for the entire day, not just select moments.  A gallery is a collection of the BEST photos the photog has ever shot. You want to know what the ones that didn’t make the cut are going to look like too… because you are getting a full CD and not just sample images.

I like Image Studio!  I’d go for them.

The first website really annoys the shit out of me–it’s so slow, way too much going on. But their photography is nice.

The second one…no. Her photography and editing isn’t very good.

My concern with both is whether or not you want pics that aren’t just posed though, as neither appears particularly good at those. My photog is a beast at candids/photojournalistic style pics, which is why we chose him, because we really like that. But if you’re cool with most of your good pics being just the posed ones, the Image Studio imo is better between those two.

@MariContrary:  I totally feel the way you do about candids!  I’m giving my photog as much time as I possibly can to do our portraits!  Overall I think I will like them better.

You do want candids to capture the emotions that you and your husband, family, friends, etc were feeling on the day.  But most of wedding photography IS candids though.  During the ceremony, first dance, reception, etc, that’s all candids.  So I’m sure you’ll get those too.

@MariContrary:  Who did you end up with?  We’re exploring all sorts of photographers in Madison right now, and it sure is a lot to wade through!

@MariContrary:  Nice!  We are also considering them, so please report back about your experience with them!  Did you go with the package that includes hair and makeup for the engagement shoot?

@MariContrary:  Glad to hear it was a positive experience!  We met with Chrystal last week and I really love her personality in addition to her photos; we’re pretty sure we’ll go with Image Studio.  πŸ™‚  Looking forward to seeing your engagement shots on Facebook!

@MariContrary:  Pretty sure I found the preview shot from your engagement session on their website, based on the weather you described!  πŸ™‚  If all of your engagement photos are like that one, they will all be beautiful.

p.s. We’re booking them.  Thanks for sharing your experience!  πŸ™‚
