photographer got supposely injured before the wedding and now im very tempted to ask for medical proof of his condition. Im just so aware of people just double booking to make more money and then they dump you the next photographer.

catalina.caballero2: I’m assuming they’re refunding all of the money you paid them, so even if they are lying what can you do? It’s a crappy situation but they are by no means obligated to provide their medical information to you. They are (or should be – read your contract) obligated to refund you, though.
Does he not have a backup? He works solo? He can’t refer you to someone else on short notice?

yes he will be sending somebody instead but its just too suspicious is so close to the wedding and i have paid full already.

catalina.caballero2: but he’s sending someone in his place…I guess I don’t understand the issue. Is it that you are worried about the other person’s quality of work?

Would it have been less suspicious a day after the wedding?

Why is it suspicious that it is “so close” to the wedding? Are all vendors magically protected from medical maladies a week before a wedding? Because if so, I am totally in the wrong field.

You’re free to ask…
That said.. ok, say you find out they were lying. Now what? Do you really want a photographer who was caught in a lie trying to get out of your wedding being in charge of your photos?

I wouldn’t think that he would double book and then pay another photographer to do your photos. I would assume that since he isn’t fulfilling your contract, he would have to pay someone to do them. I doubt he has a friend that would do it for free…. That doesn’t seem like it would make financial sense.
I would be inclined to think that your photographer seriously came down with something. And I would also agree with others that it isn’t suspicious that it’s close to your wedding that it happened. It’s just really horrible and stressful for you.
